  • help me with some fitday math!

I want my info on fitday to be as accurate as possible.

I have been eating Tyson wings pretty often. The serving size on the bag is 4 oz (220 cals), and there is 11 servings per bag. I counted 36 wings in the bag.

    So, 36 wings = 44 oz = 2420 calories total.
    I ate 7 wings. Thats 8.56 oz, 471 calories.
But I fried them in canola oil. I have no idea how to add this up.

But on fitday I found ...
Chicken, wing, fried, no coating, skin eaten.

There are 623.6 calories for 7 wings. Does that sounds right? So which nutrition facts should I use?

If you could compare raw wings and fried wings, you could figure out how much oil to count. then do 2 entries in fitday - the Tyson wings (custom food) & the oil you used to cook them.

Or you could measure how much oil you have before you fry the wings (minus) the oil left over. Count that much oil in fitday.

Personally I buy the chicken wings fresh, cut off the tips, cut the wing in two sections and deep fry it in canola... and count it in FitDay like you have there. Now I count the number of wings according to the whole wing, or two pieces. I don't know how the bagged wings are measured... when you say wings do you mean wing sections or whole wings?

Oh I do love wings yes I do uh-huh

You could get yourself a scale and weigh the wings before you cook them. Make a FitDay custom food entry for 4 oz. and just change the food log entry for however much you have. As far as the oil goes, probably the most accurate would be to measure the amount before and after cooking and log that as a separate entry.

That is OK - but the broth and the flavouring will have a touch of carb. Nothing to worry about. It is pretty easy to prepare chicken wings from scratch I think. In fact that is what we are making today.
