I've been on this induction for 19 days...and have only lost 4 pounds I'm about to try something else...thanks for all the advice...I'm really confused though...I've stayed in ketosis...did the 20 carb aday ...but my body just does'nt want to let go of the fat...well i do feel really energetic and my workout routine is improving...I'm up to 50 minutes of hard fat burning exercising and weight lifting....well I'm going to finish up the next eight day of induction and then see what I'm going to do about trying to get some of these pounds off...Thanks everyone....

    Hi Cecil,

Please don't give up now! We are so geared toward "the number," that we sometimes lose sight of the goal - health. Are you aware that muscle weighs more than fat? So, you're really energetic and you're up to 50 minutes of exercising and weightlifting, and you're probably slimmer, too, right? Come on, dude! You can do this! We're here for ya!

        Re: giving up

I'm sure several people will be by to give their expert opinion, but just stopped by because I have been there several times. I have felt like giving up numerous times and I actually have but then I start all over. Anyways outsider view as to maybe why your scale hasn't moved much...is it possible that the weight lifting is making you not lose as many lbs as you were hoping for. I mean I know you are losing fat but also gaining muscle and that may be hindering the scale a bit. Did you take measurements prior to starting? Maybe you are losing inches and then the lbs will start going soon too.....just an idea.

Wishing you the best in your journey!!!

I just had a quick look at your blog entries for food intake and I'm not seeing much water. Are you drinking enough? That can affect weight loss, too. You basically need to be a camel (half your body weight = roughly the number ounces of water you should be drinking.)

Cecil, did you enter your menus in FitDay? I checked what you posted on your blog and it seems to me you are undereating big time!

Have you taken body measurements? Are your clothes looser?

I've been on this induction for 19 days...and have only lost 4 pounds
And you think 19 days is so long?

Are you looking for a quick way to lose weight... or do you like the Atkins way of eating and want to make it a lifestyle?

The first answer to that is another question: What overweight person wants to make a particular way of eating a lifestyle if they see no immediately-appreciable results?

The person who enjoys the lifestyle will eventually enjoy *all* the benefits that lifestyle provides. The person who wants to enjoy the benefits regardless of the lifestyle will adopt whatever lifestyle sounds good, but will quickly move on if the benefits do not materialize as expected.

Unfortunately, too many of us fall into the latter category, no matter how we proclaim ourselves to be in the former category.

                  Re: giving up

Atkins recommends L-Carnitine, Q10 and Chromium supplements, in addition to your non-iron daily vitamin, if your weight loss is being stubborn. Also, I lost no weight in two weeks of induction and then one of the tips told me to eat more calories and more fat. All of those tips really helped. Hey, the energy increase would keep me on the diet by itself. I never got the energy surge and I am a little jealous of those who scream its praises.

                    Re: giving up

Cecil, if you choose to move on to another way of eating, I wish you the best. Regardless of the method you choose, you really must look deep within yourself to determine why you are determined to live and die by the scale and are so quick to punish yourself for no substantive reason. Those tendencies will defeat you at every turn, you must know that by now.

Two last items to ponder: how many years did it take you to put on and maintain your present weight? Why should it take any less time to take it off than it took to put on?

with your weight training and 50 mins of cardio you should be adding lean body mass which can hide on the scles your body fat loss,

That is why we tell folk to make friends with their tapemeasures. I fixated on the scales was doing 60 min HIIT and 2 hours BFL lifting 3 days a week and raced right by a healthy stopping point. By the time I learned I had under 15% body fat and was actually underweight I was still BMI and height weight charts too fat even fitday said I was overweight.

Since you have 8 more days measure today your neck, chest, waist hips thighs biceps wrists and calves and measure on day 9 and see if you are not a leaner smaller version of yourself even if the scales don't validate your hard work.

I am with 2big here. With that much exercise you are probably shifting a bit -
Try the tape measure and relax a bit - make sure you eat enough fat.
                            Good luck whatever you do.
