  • Feeling Very Low

so, this post isn't "atkins isn't working" or "i want to quit" related.
i'm having a very rough day.

i'd love some advise on those that have discovered their "self sabotage beast" within. i know for a fact that i am very much the reason that i can't seem to shed the weight, but i'm having a very hard time figuring out why, every time i get someone successful, i stuff my face and gain it all back plus some.

any advise (and or pm's) would be very appreciated. i feel like crap today.

    thx

    Re: Feeling Very Low

O.K., so if I'm reading this correctly, you’re basically having "Will Power" problems.

The only piece of advice I can offer you in this situation is to make a list of things that you absolutely hate about being overweight. I posted a tread called, "what will you not miss?" You may be able to get some ideas from there. When you come in contact with an obstacle, you have to make a decision. The right decision if you are truly committed to this WOE. Anyway, when that time comes, think of all the things that you hate about being overweight and ask yourself, "Is eating this going to help me out in the long run"? Probably not.

When I lost 50 pounds, I had gone 9 weeks cheat free. If I would have cheated I may have not gotten there but the "risk" (not being able to eat certain foods) was well worth the reward. I was going to have a pizza party to celebrate the loss of 50 pounds, but when that time came, I ask myself the same thing I asked you to ask yourself and that helped me make the right decision. Instead of having pizza, I rewarded myself by moving forward to OWL.

Hopefully this will help you out. Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey

      Re: Feeling Very Low

I like the advice given above.

I do something similar but from a different angle. I try to stop and think about how I feel about losing weight and getting my eating under control. I really focus and think about that. How does it feel to go in a store and buy something in a smaller size? How does it feel to be at work, doing errands, etc and realize you aren't hungry, and haven't thought about food in a couple of hours? How does it feel to walk up stairs or do some sort of exercise and realize it is easier to do?

When I am tempted, the other thing I do is ask myself "at the end of the day, what is going to make me feel good?".

      You can do it!

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling much better today. The list is a very powerful tool and I have used it for several reasons other than eating habits. It basicaly draws the line for you. Pro's vs Con's so to speak. The mind is a very powerful thing and once you start to see progress, it will help you increase your will power, confidence and self-esteem.

              Re: Feeling Very Low

glad you are feeling better today.

While you are feeling better write yourself a letter about why you deserve to be the healthier smaller version you are working so hard to become.

if you have pics of your current big weight and some of a smalleryou make copies of them and keep them with your letter and a blank sheet of paper and pen.

Now any time you think you want to eat off plan reread your letter about why you deserve to be that smaller healthier you. When you finish the letter look at the pics and then write yourself another letter about why you deserve that food more then you deserve to be the smaller healtheir you. If you finish the second letter come tell us about that food cause that must be something wonderful.

Nobody has ever posted they finished the second letter.
