  • what is WITH my scales?!?

    Hello everyone, this forum has been a lifeline for me over the last 6 weeks since I started atkins, this is my first post though.

    I just weighed myself for the first time in 2 weeks, and have GAINED 1.6kg, despite eating perfectly- and a lot better than I was in my first 2 weeks of induction (no artificial sweeteners, more fat, more veggies, more water.)

    So what is going on?! My TOM is 6 days away, so its most likely not that..

    I would LOVE any thoughts/suggestions! So frustrated as this gain (my second in 6 weeks) puts me almost back to where I started!

    i used to gain 10 pounds the week before my TOM are you sure it isn't TOM?

    did you check your measurements to be sure it isn't some fluid weight gain or lean body gain that is masking your body fat losses? I added pounds of muscle while shedding my body fat working out over a 6th month period and was upset I only lost 4 pounds for that whole time until I found out my body fat had dropped and I was a goalie!

      I agree with 2Big. I "gain" (really retain) water in the week leading up to my TOM. In fact, I still retain water to the point that my bracelets and rings don't fit me.

      The other thing this might be is the "Post-induction Stall Syndrome" or PISS. It happens between weeks 3-6 of this Diet. And it's a period of adjustment due to all the changes you've made.

        That's what it most likely is though ... at least a good part of it!

        Weight loss is not linear ... there will always be ups and downs on your journey.

          Thanks so much for your responses!

          Have just looked in my diary and my previous 'gain' was also around 7 days before my TOM, so it might make sense after all.. Am trying hard to ignore those stupid scales, my body feels thinner, my clothes are fitting better, I need to stop being so obsessed with that number!
