  • What I learned...

    Hi all,

As some of you may know, I lost my Dad late last year and it was the first set of holidays without him.

I fell off the wagon on 12/22 and didn't get back on--albeit three false starts--until January 19.

So in that month, I put on 18lbs. Eating everything in sight and probably needing therapy but too stubborn/embarrassed to go, so food became my therapist. Miserable.

The final restart was January 19, and I'm within 4 lbs of my lowest weight on Atkins.

While I'm not condoning this to others, I just wanted to share my experience. I did not restart induction, just picked up where I left off at OWL rung 2. If I keep at the rate I've been going, I'll have lost the 18lbs in that two weeks.

When I fell off the first time I tried Atkins back in '08, it was because I had severe bronchitis. And I was off for six weeks and gained about 10 lbs.

Whatever. Anyway, this WOE is one that I will stick to for the rest of my life. Will I fall sometimes? Of course. I know myself. But I will no longer beat myself up for those falls off the wagon.

    Thanks for all the support!

    Hi Shelley
I am glad to know that you are back on track and starting to make inroads on those 'comfort eating pounds'.

You sound so positive in your attitude to this WOE that I am sure that you will always be able to pick yourself up and keep on going no matter what
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

glad you are back. I didn't get quite as off track eating when my dad died but I know that feeling of medicating with foods and missing him during the holidays.

Picking back u0p were you left off is the way to do atkins. 14 day induction isn't punishment for cheating we just get back into ketosis and go right back where ever we were in our Atkins.
