  • I cheated with good intentions

I have been on the atkins for 3 months now. I stopped going to family events because of it. Coming from an indian culture, no food is made without rice or bread with curry. Anways my aunt wanted me to come over and spent an entire day preping foods for me that are Low carb. Obviously she isnt as knowledgeble as I am about the atkins, so she made a few things which were ok, and she made this roll filled with meat in a fried tortilla. Problem she said it was low carb kind, but it wasnt it was whete. I didnt want her to feel bad, and thinkin it was low carb one I ate one, and No more. (low carb one has never kicked me off the diet) I didnt want her effort to go to waste, so i said ok one wont hurt.

It was not low carb and I did a keto test this morning. I am No longer on ketosis off of one tortilla. and Now I am hungry as a starving homeless man.

p.s i started with 181 -and am down to 167, with 160 as the goal.

Well, this is probably the wrong answer but...so what...you didn't hurt her feelings...you honestly thought it was low-carb...end of the line, you did not eat carbs all day long and keep eating them and you are still "on the wagon" so...forgive yourself...be extra good for the next couple of days...drink lots of water...Just hop right back on! Good luck!

        The sticks aren't reliable though.

And they don't generally show a reading if you're eating around 50 net carbs.

How many net carbs are you eating now, since you're on OWL 7?

i remember i ate these whitecorn/wheat tortilla chips as a test.. i gained 5 pounds the next day luckly most of it was water but it still was very hard on my body

but anyways you should teach your aunt that not all carbohydrates are the same some are deadly and some are good so once she learns that it not only has to be low carb but also good carbs from say green vegetables you won't end up in the same situation again

Yea i know those strips are unreliable, but be that as it may, Everyday I have always tested some shade of purple. but now for the last couple of days, im getting white, or lil more shade then white,, offwhite. I eat around 35 g carbs a day, because i have not been able to go to the gym (to much work at the office) as for the effect of that corn tortilla, apart from getting kicked off ketosis, i didnt gain any water weight at all. so i guess I got lucky there.

I was in India whilst doing the atkins first time around...biiiiiiig no no. Everything has sugar in it and loaded with carbs and so many peoples houses to go to for dinner it's so impossible to say to them you can't eat ANYTHING they have prepared, I just ate out and had tandoori chicken and paneer everyday lol. I'd say hop back on board and be prepared next time, even if you could say I will bring a dish that is low carb and pre prepared by you? thats what I'd do.
              Good Luck, Laura

Happens to all of us, sis. I think it's awesome your aunt was willing to learn to prepare foods you can eat nd wants to support your choice to lose weight and keep it off.

And by the way congratulations on your weight loss... that's awesome!!!
