Another way is to measure veggies in cups is to get a large measuring jug and fill it with water up to the 2-cup mark (475 mls) then add the veggies till the water goes up to the 3-cup mark (710 mls).
You then know you have added 1 cupsworth of veggies and can drain the water off and cook/eat them.
Obviously this only works for food that will not dissolve in water
BTW I am definitely not a wizard with conversions but have downloaded this free conversion software to easily convert cups to mls (volume) ounces to grams (mass) and even temperatures and distances etc.
