  • What are some key tips you use to stay on track with this woe?

I've found not drinking diet soda or have any sugar free snacks, they make me crave sugar--my carb of choice.

I also drink water to curb my appetite, to keep my mind off of sugary treats.
I don't watch food shows anymore--they make me hungry, or crave, or both.

    What works for you?

Eating something high fat always works for me. I don't really like pork rinds, but I keep them around specifically for those moments when I ant something fast to fight off a craving.

I went to the grocery store on the weekend and the sheet cakes were calling my name...they wanted me to lick all the icing off of them.

      I said no.

      I bought blueberries instead.

My tip is to just keep your resolve

You know why you're doing it, you know who you're doing it for, and you know the end result is fantastic. So keep doing it, and don't let the sugar get you down

WetBanana, you're hilarious those darn sheet cakes. Thanks for your response, and yours too Grant.

Are there any more Atkineers with tips?

I eat egg or tuna mayo when cravings are really bad. The high fat mix with protein seems to help.

I also try the fifteen minute rule to see if I am really hungry or just bored.

I have a pair of smallish thight pants - I like them and I put them on often to look at myself in them. Yes I would enjoy eating a this or that or what not but in the end not as much as I enjoy fitting in those pants/ They are the bomb. Really (makes my behind look good)

Liv, you look absolutely great!!! I have 2 small t-shirts on my bedroom wall that I will get back into. That motivates me daily. So, I understand your method of trying on a pair of your small tight pants to stay on track, it does help.

make yourself an atkins emergency kit a couple of them so you have one everywhere you are.

Change your mind set to be a project in deconstruction or remodeling so you can't be swayed that you have done great so far and need to celebrate with some high carb food at a life's event.

keep a pic of you at your biggest and ask yourself every time you are tempted to cheat do I want her back in charge of my life? bet the answer is a resounding NO!!!

if you do get off plan practice carb harm intervention. don't say blew it for today when you eat a doughnut at a breakfaast outing so I will restart tomorrow cause we all know tomorrow never comes. Make the very next bite back on plan. soon you will notice that cheats are fewer and further between until you got a whole string of cheatfree days going on.

I don't know if I want a picture of myself at my highest, I think it will depress me, but then again it might work.

Re: What are some key tips you use to stay on track with this woe?

I find that I must be very careful about my sweeteners lest, like the OP, I suffer cravings.

I also post frequently to the boards as well as my journal for more private thoughts. The better I get to know myself and get honest with myself, the better chance I have of staying on the diet.

Planning has been crucial, always to have a backup plan. Here at school we have had to give up our mini-fridges to cut electric bills. Today I forgot my lunch, but knew I could count on the cafeteria for a good salad bar. However, I used mayonnaise for dressing rather than dressing... don't know what's in the stuff but I'm ok with Helmann's. Plan B is my very good friend.

I am new to atkins but not to trying to lose weight. I always try to keep healthy substitutes around but my bf has 3 kids that we get on weekends and they always want terrible junk food like pizza, candy ice cream, any kind of sweets or chips or something. (they have no liking of healthy foods since their mom doesnt feed them any!) So temptation is always around me! Argh! I often try to talk myself out of eating crappy stuff, thinking of my goals and stuff. But, Im human and that doesnt always work. So, often times I give in to the temptation except with a little trick of friend of mine uses. What ever it is, being ice cream or cake or the like, I add a few generous teaspoons of salt. Then I dig in. Needless to say that I never overeat any of the stuff!!!! Sounds totally crazy but it works everytime!!!!!
