  • Update on Stomach Problems.

Hey everyone! I know I haven't really been on as much as I was but I have some good reasons.

As some of you know I was diagnosed with cronic obstructions last fall and had 2 right after one anther. I had been doing great for a while but then about 3 weeks ago I got really sick and ended up being stuck in bed for a while (even during my birthday).

I started feeling better but then things turned for the worse again. I finally had to face the music and made an appointment with my doctor. It turns out that about 3 weeks ago (when I first felt sick) I was experiencing side effects of a infection.

So now 3 weeks down the road the infection is worse and has caused swelling which is stopping me up (again!). The doctor said it was pretty bad and she could hear and feel my insides trying to get everything out. It has gotten to the point were my intestines don't have time to propperly dispose of all the water and it is pushed around the obstructions causing me to have a burning/crampy feeling. The infection is still there and also making the burning 10x worse. I feel like I have a fire going through me every time I have a BM.

It might sound strange that I am still having fairly normal BMs even when I am obstructed but as the doctor put it, what is actually coming out is being forsed out by the water and pressure. Even though it might seem normal qua size (TMI sorry) it is far to little.

So now for the next 2 days I have to take 3 coal pills 3 times aday (so 9 pills daily). This "should" clear it up but if not more drastic measures might need to be taken. I have to contact her friday and let her know how I am doing.

I am still getting enough fiber so this obstruction is caused by the infection. I was doing so good too. Oh well, hopefully friday I will feel better. I just have to wait until tomorrow to start the treatment.

(BTW: For those who care, my cat has made a perfect recovery. I don't know if I told it before but he had his surgery December 24th (a christmas blessing) and was a little sick for about a week. He had a check up December 31st and the vet took out his stitches and said he was recovering well. Now more then a month later he is doing fantasic. He has gained weight and is looking like his puffy old self. His hair is also starting to grow back from where they shaved him. He will need to be on special food for the rest of his life but that is a small price to pay to get my baby back. Now to take care of me.)

Take care all and I hope to become more active again once I get over this hurdle.

        Re: Update on Stomach Problems.

i recently found out tomatos upset my gut lol

anyways hope your gut gets better maybe some info from this link could help you
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, IBD, IBS, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Celiac, & Candida Diet Program.

also about your cat what happend to him? my moms cat is highly allergic to wheat and corn which they add to just about every cat food too make the cats fat, diseased, and eat more... but anyways when ever he eats wheat or corn he pukes it up later on

we ended up haveing to buy him this other cat food that does not have wheat or corn in it but of course the other cat food has sweet potatos, peas, and carrorts, really out of all the vegetables why does cat food companys have to put the most carby vegetables in there cat food? so the cats get fat/diseased more hungry and eat more =/

when my mom took him to the vet before we found out he was allergic to wheat/corn the vet just took are money and didnt really do anything the vet put him on a starvation diet and this speical food that was still junk that had wheat/corn that he is allergic too

after the cat still being sick and pukeing after the vets advice my mom finally gave up and let me have the cat and i just fed him a natural very low carb cat diet and he got better then later we found out he was allergic to wheat/corn

          Re: Update on Stomach Problems.

I'm sorry to hear about you moms cat Ziggy, that sound horrible. My cat had recurrent bladder inflammations and infections and none of the medications were working. Finally after months of pain they dicided to take an x-ray. They found a large mass but couldn't tell what it was. We had to make an appointment with an echo specialist and get a better finding. Well it turned out that he had a large bladder stone that kept damaging his bladder wall. We got it removed December 24th and things have become so much better for him. He use to have bad hairballs and would throw up daily but since we put him on medicated food (Royal Canin - Veterinary Diet: Urinary S/O Feline) he has put on weight and stopped throwing up (except for when he gets into out other cats food, which he stopped doing).

Thinks on the other information about stomach problems...will give it a read later tonight.

                  Re: Update on Stomach Problems.

Thanks all. The coal pills weren't as bad as I thought they would be. I just have to take 15 more . The pain gets worse as the day goes on so in the morning (now) I actually feel ok, but by dinner time I will be curled in the fetal position. I can't eat to much either or it starts hurting more. I was up 3 lbs yesterday but that is probably due to swelling and other stuff lodged in my gut.

Oh well gets me out of cooking and cleaning for atleast 2 more days , little mini vacation hehe.
