  • What am I doing wrong?

I've been on the atkins induction phase for about a month now (January 5th). I didn't have a scale the first week so I don't know what I lost that week. The second week I lost about 6 pounds. Since the second week though my weight has gone down maybe 2 pounds even though I have continued on induction phase. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I'm getting very discouraged. I am well over 100lbs over weight so this should be coming off easier. Here is roughly what I eat on a daily basis.

    Breakfast
-3 fried or scrambled eggs w/ 1 slice of American cheese
-3 pieces of sausage patties(no carbs) or 3 pieces of bacon

    Lunch
-I have the ancho atkins chili that I make from their website. It has about 6 net carbs in it.
    or
-Burger (10-12 ozs)made from ground beef and all I add is a little garlic salt.

    Snack
-I may have some cheese, about every three days some pork grinds not too many and If I'm hungry I may have another burger.

    Dinner
-Burger made from ground beef again or
    -Steak on the grill or
-Grilled chicken, (2) cups of iceberg lettuce, a little feta or blue cheese, half of an avocado and (2) table spoons of blue cheese dressing.

This is my typical day. I have no problem staying on this phase or eating the foods that are allowed. The only small problem I may have is the time preparing the meals but I get it done.

    Thanks in advance.

      Where's your other vegetables?

2 cups of iceberg lettuce isn't enough.

The avocado is a special category food and doesn't count as a vegetable.

How much protein are you getting?

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I've read (and noticed for myself) that my weight loss slowed down in weeks 3 and 4 even though I was doing an extended induction. That seems to be fairly common. I don't think it was designed even in induction to lose 6lbs per week (though it would be nice ).

Have you taken your measurements? The slow loss weeks were accompanied by a loss of inches that particular week that was better than the pounds to be quite honest.

Take a look at this thread - it was very helpful http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ot-linear.html

if you lost 6 pounds the 2nd week then its safe to say you atleast lost 5 pounds during the first week

so your doing pretty good also know the closer you get to your goal weight the slower the weight loss gets

3 pieces of sausage patties(no carbs) or 3 pieces of bacon
make sure you read the ingridients they list things as no carbs all the time when a food item could have lots same with the bacon

you may be eating a tiny bit to much lean meat try adding some source of fat to it

also that half of an avocado may be causeing a big problem its suposed to only be half of a small avocado but you should cut out the avocado if your weight is not droping

More veggies! There is a whole world out there beyond the iceberg lettuce. Check out the list in your book or on this thread.
