I found out that I have no cooking ingredients in my kitchen. I will be going shopping this weekend and would like to get some suggestion on what might be some good cooking things to have just in case want to try one of the great recipes that I have been reading on the forum. And can someone tell me what is cream instead of cool whip or whip cream Noob question sorry but that’s what I am. if someone could give me a breakdown of what they have maybe I can start with that then modify to my needs later. I’m up for trying most recipes but just don’t have the ingredients. And when you say pumpkin is that can bought or do you make it yourself. Sorry very lost with the cooking part. I’m guessing everyone make stuff from scratch so that they know exactly what’s inside it.

Re: I have no cooking ingredients in my kitchen please help!!
in the milk section should be cartons of heavy whipping cream. it will look like thicker milk. you add it palin to recipes and whipp it with your sweetner of choice to make whipped cream.
pumpkin is hard to find because of the bad weather in the growing areas this summer but you are looking usually in the pie filling areas for canned pumpkin and it will have pumpkin and maybe some salt as the only ingredients no spices nor eggs nor sugar.
I bought the spices I liked so you should too. if you are going to be making pumpkin look for pie spice in the spice cans section of your store.
I used the legal veggies I liked, cream cheese, eggs, blocks of cheese, butter, EEOV eggs, bacon, ground beef, addative free pork ( if it says moist and tender walk away), addative free chicken ( look on the back and if the sodium per serving is over 100 it has a solution shot into it), the type of fish I like, and occasionally shell seafood like crab shrimp or clams.
I know I like creole, blackened, thai, curry, italian, mexican, and french herbs and spices so I got my favorite recipe and low carbed them like leaving the sugars out of the blackened spice mixes and the taco seasoning.
So first you want to write down the types of stuff you like and then figure out whay you need to low carb it.by the book atkinseer

Why don't you first look over some recipes and decide what you want to make, and then buy what you need for those meals.

I basically started with the acceptable foods list and went shopping. My list usually looks something like this:Originally posted by STRONG74 View PostI found out that I have no cooking ingredients in my kitchen. That is a very tough question to answer.
I think you have to decide on a couple of recipes and then write down what you need for those and start there.
Generally I by protein basics (meat, fish, eggs, ground beef, bacon)
Veggies (I love lots of them but I always have onions, mushrooms, peppers, snap peas, cauliflower, broccoli, greens)
Dairy (sour cream, cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, cream)
Fats: oil and butter
Other staples; organic broths, spices (pepper and cinnamon are the ones I use the most) vanilla extract, splenda,

Re: I have no cooking ingredients in my kitchen please help!!
I have just started but had a sis on atkins and i also like alot of atkins friendly ingredients. I currently have a well-stocked supply of eggs, cheese, chicken, tilapia and shrimp, garlic, broccoli, cream cheese, heavy cream, butter, turkey bacon, some sausage, alot of spices and seasonings, ranch dressing, hot sauce, ground bef and steak...you get the idea! Point is, this is the only "diet" that encourages you to eat yummy things until you are full and not starve! Thats why its a way of living and not an actual diet. I am having no problems so far and I am a self-proclaimed carboholic and junk food junkie. I feel great, have eaten a LOT yesterday and today, and have no cravings! Good luck and I really hope this helps.

I agree with Suzanne. Look at the list and see what YOU like to eat and what YOU would like to try to eat. Then make your shopping list.Originally posted by Suzanne_H View PostI basically started with the acceptable foods list and went shopping.
Sticking on this diet or any other diet is easier if YOU eat the foods that YOU like and/or are able to eat. For example, if you don't like fish, then if I suggested that you buy salmon or tuna, that won't be much help to you. Likewise, if I suggest that you buy eggs and make omelettes, that won't help you much if you are allergic to eggs. Or if I suggested that you buy chicken livers and pig's feet, that won't be helpful to you if you don't live chicken livers or pigs feet.
So look on the acceptable foods list and see what YOU like. Afterall, YOU will be the one eating the food, not me.
