hi before xmas i was down to 98kg and over the xmas period i didnt cheat just over induldged the foods i was allowed and went up to 102kg ,anyway im rung 7 owl been hard at training again as before xmas ive even added an extra days swimming so now my exercise wek looks like this
monday gym morning cardio then afternoon swimming bout 50 lenghts
    tuesday karate
    wednesday gym cardio
thursday weights session plus 20 mins cross trainer
    friday karate
    saturday same as thursday
    sunday rest

im now eating exactly as i was before xmas which got me to 98kg but when i weighed myself this morning im now 103 kg this is very frustrating as im doing every thing i was before xmas eating and training the only differance is that i now swim ,any thoughts should i drop down the rungs a bit or even go back to induction for a week or 2 im just not sure what is best ,i know its nothing im eating as before xmas i was at rung 7 for bout 3-4 weeks with no weight increase
    thanks

Re: struggling to get back down

Just my personal opinion is that you should think about induction for maybe a few days. I did that after the holidays and it helped me. I have been continuing back up the rungs again to where I was (and beyond actually) and I continue to lose a little bit pretty consistantly.

In DANDR, Dr. Atkins even recommends returning to induction for a few days to get cravings under control. Maybe cravings are not the issue for you though. I was having cravings and had to clean up my act with induction.

Are you doing measurements? Is it possible you are gaining muscle?

Is your water ok? Maybe it is just one of those natural flucuations and you just need to give it some time.

I found doing induction for a few days got my cravings under control and also helped me get some bad habits taken care of. I am also trying to use fitday again to keep track of exactly what it is I am eating.

    Good luck!

If your rung 7, you may want to back down to where you were losing, like Rung 5 or something like that. Also going back to induction might not be a bad idea.

How long have you been stalled?
Did you add something new that might not be agreeing with you?

I'm wondering with all the working out... are you gaining muscle, which would weigh more than fat... What does the tape measure say? How do your clothes fit?

From what I understand the rungs of OWL can be worked across rather than up. Maybe there's a rung that's troublesome...

Also, how many calories are you consuming? I know it's not a calorie-counting WOE per se, but eventually those calories really do count. Might be something to consider. This is what I'd do first anyhow.

thanks , i think i might go back on induction for a week just to get things going again ,thing is im eating exactly as i was before xmas and training the same and was still loosing on rung 7 ,i just ate too much over xmas(legal foods ) and cause of gym opening times and bad weather in uk and gym not open the training suffered for the first 2 weeks of january but ive been back at it since second week of january

Do you have a pair of really tight pants that you can try on periodically? I always kept a pair of jeans that were too tight, and tried them on each week. It is a much better indicator of fat loss, than the scale is... too many variables can affect it. The scale can be stupid.

If you aren't losing inches, either, I think it may be a good idea to drop back a rung or two... I find this WOE is always a work in progress. Things can change... for example, for a while I was losing while eating cottage cheese and berries. Then things slowed to a miniscule crawl... cut out them out, replaced those carbs with veggies, and started losing again. Go figure.

Re: struggling to get back down

                Hello there!

I'm with Mitzi on this one. Women ALWAYS seem to have at least one pair of tight pants in their closet!! Seriously, it really is a better indicator than the scale. I have found myself up on the scale and down a size or two below what I once was at the same weight.

I probably wouldn't go all the way back to induction but I might go back to Rung 1. With all the exercise you're doing, I believe you NEED those extra veggie carbs and they won't hurt you a bit. Then, I'd go shopping! Who knows? You might have to buy something 2 sizes down instead of one size down to get a tight fit.

Have you had your body far percentage measured accurately, Jake?

With all the exercising you have been doing your body might have morphed so that you have more muscle than you think and less body fat

Many lowcarbers report having to adjust their goal weights upwards as they are in better shape at a higher weight!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
