  • Cheese please! But how much is too much?

I think I'm overdoing it on the cheese and it's messing with my induction phase. Can anyone clarify how much cheese is enough. It's hard to measure cheese in oz. Does anyone have a simpler way?

Ps. Nuts are a no no too right? Peanut butter as well?

Oh how I miss the crunch. Celery just doesn't do it for me.

Thanks ppl all your weight lose is keeping me motivated!

4oz is the most you can eat in the day. Easiest way if you don't have a scale is to buy the 16oz block and divide it into 4 fairly equal pieces. Then you have 4-4oz sections. You can divide those in half if you want 2oz squares and divide again into 1oz sections if you want to count by the single oz. Just takes a minute to cube it up.

Yes nuts, pb etc are off limits. I like to dip my celery into ranch dressing. You can also put cream cheese on it if you like that.

Are you reading the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

No more nuts for me poorbears. I use shredded cheddar cheese so that's why I loose count. I also love laughing cow. What kind of cream cheese is the best to buy. I'll try the celery and ranch...sounds delicious and gives me the boost of veggies I need.

So far only lost 5 pounds...

I either use the philly brand or the store brand at the grocery store. They are identical nutritionally so I buy whichever is on sale. Aww yeah shredded is harder to measure. I checked my scale for you. A full quarter cup of shredded cheddar = 1 ounce. So maybe try measuring it with a measuring cup?

Why "only"? When did you start?

How much do you have to lose?

Did you take body measurements as well?

You can make crispy chips from eggplant, for example:

I made this recipe Saturday for Sunday's Game Gathering---If you follow the directions, and let these dry out even longer than the recipe says, you will be quite surprised how much crunch you can get out of these-Of course they won't be like the real thing, but do you want to be thinner and healthy or have lots of CRUNCH...LOL : ):

Re: Cheese please! But how much is too much?

I have 60 to lose! I tried calorie counting religiously and I was only having 1300 calories a day plus I always go to the gym everyday for an hour of elliptical or spining class (Working out always makes me feel refreshed). But this weight is not budging. So even though a hundred people have told me I'm an idiot for trying Atkins and I will die of a heart attack at 35 and it won't work. I am still trying it no matter what. This site is helping me along with motivation, SUPPORT! and informatin. So thanks you. xoxo.
It's already been two weeks but I realized I'm eating too much cheese! 4 oz is half of a cup. A cup is 8 oz.

i was having at least two cups for sure. The weight has been really slow but I am drinking lots of water and working out as always. I'll try those eggplant chips! Sounds amazing!

                          Don't confuse volume with weight.

1 cup of water is 8 ounces because it's a measurement of volume. However, it doesn't weigh 8 ounces.

The USDA has 1 cup of shredded cheddar at 113 grams by weight, which is almost 4 ounces ... which is the upper limit.

Many people find they do better with less than the maximum cheese allowed.

1 cup of cheese isn't 8 ounces by weight.

That's why it's important to take body measurements, too. You might be shedding inches even if the number on the scale doesn't change much.

You know that's not true, right? They are only uninformed about Atkins.

don't use shredded cheese. It tends to be coated in either flour or corn starch. I use string cheese, it is already premeasured for me. You can also have pork rinds for a nice crunch.
