  • Thoughts on "Turbo Atkins", anyone?

So I saw a magazine at the store and TURBO ATKINS grabbed my attention, so I scooped it up. They are claiming you can lose up to 16lbs in a week. I joined a "Biggest Loser" competition at work and need a little boost I guess.

A very brief article, with sample menus which all seem to be legal / induction and Atkins friendly. The only thing is that THEY state you can have red wine, which I know is a DEFINITE no-no, especially during induction.

Basically, what it boils down to is that you make fish your main source of protein every other day, adding extra protein from eggs, poultry and lean meat if still hungry. Tossing all your veggies in olive oil. Well DUH, I thought. They called it Mediterranean-Atkins menus.

I'm not "new" to this woe, but I wanted to throw this out there and get some more "seasoned" Atkineers thoughts and ideas on this "Turbo" Atkins. The word "turbo" alone seems silly to me, and I know we all lose weight at different rates. Atkins is a lifestyle CHANGE and not a quick fix. The article didn't tell me anything I didn't already know from my DANDR but I just wanted to see what you guys thought, if anything. I know follwing DANDR is the only way here, but inquiring minds wanna know sometimes, ya know?

Much love and thanks to you guys!

This was brought up with the other moderators. Apparently, it is a re-print of article that was published by Woman's World back 2004.

Be aware that Woman's World was also the magazine that promoted Kimkins, that disasterous low fat, low carb, low cal diet whose creator is being sued for fraud.

Turbo is a great word isn't it? The publish that article quite a few times. I think they did it last fall too.
Then they had an article that looked like this

Of course I believe everything those woman's magazines promise about weightloss.

funkytofabs? does your article have any weight loss past week one info? We all know that cutting cals doing induction can get some monster weight loss for obese folk from draining our glycogen stores and activating our body fat energy stores. BUT we also know week 2 is dramticaly less and can even be zero loss. Not to mention that low cal eating will activate the body energy conservation chemicals that will slow down body metabolism and grind the weight loss down the road to a halt well before goal weight is acheived.

that is a real scarey version in that article as it is a "plant" based lower fat atkins with soy being the plant.

Wow on that article, why are they even calling it Atkins it's nothing like Atkins induction. I guess because the name sells. I think I will be sticking to our version.
