  • Fatigued! Ugh!

    I don't remember feeling this much fatigue the first time I did Atkins. It seemed like by now I was feeling really eneretic. By now, meaning I am into week five of induction. Still seem to be very sleepy, sluggish. Is it just because I am fortiesh now. Any and all input appreciated!

        What atkinsgal08 said, plus remember that this is a new way of eating and your body is going through changes. Also, are supplementing with a multi-vitamin?
        Do you want a solution, or do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, which is what kept you the way you are.

          did you go see your doc before you started to rule out any medical conditions?

          have you plugged your food into something like fitday? if so check your nutrtional reports to see if you are deficient in any vits or minerals as that could be causing fatigue too.

            Thanks for all of your input! These are some good ideas! To answer the questions posed, here goes:

            1. No, I am probably not drinking enough water, some days, yes, some days, no.
            2. Probably need more protein. Have to force this cause my appetite is pretty suppressed right now.
            3. Not taking my vitamin consistently!
            4. No, I did not see the doc before starting on Atkins again. Had a physical about a year ago, but lost my medical insurance due to a divorce. Avoid the doc because of this.

            I will try the ideas suggested! Thank you for always being a fantastic, reliable, and friendly source of information and encouragement along the journey! Hugs....

                Excellent questions AtkingsGal! Here are my answers:

                1. Make sure I drink at least 120 oz. tomorrow. Started pushing the lovely liquid tonight. Not doing a 120 til tom. though or I'll be up all night! Lol!

                2. Force myself to eat every 4 hours, adding eggs to my selection of protein choices.

                3. Took my vitamin before I got the ADBB tonight! Will do so again in the a.m.!

                4. Need to up my veggie intake. Have been eating alot of celery and spinach but need to get some variety.

                5. I am not moving into owl because I have chosen extended induction since I have so much to lose.

                Thank you for motivating me to SEEK answers to my dilemma! I appreciate the accountability!

                  atkins uses the 6 hr rule if you have to force yourself to eat not a 4 hr rule, but the rest looks good.

                    Just "checking" in: Here is how my day is so far...

                    70 oz. water so far today ~ Check!

                    Multivitamin ~ Check!

                    Lotsa veggie intake ~ Check!

                    Eating every four hours ~ Check!

                    Pushing more protein ~ Check! Including eggs ~ Check!

                    Will let you know if I improve on my energy levels.

                        if you get hungry you can eat any time but if you are not hungry you must eat at the 6 hr mark.

                        taking the vits and getting more vits and minerals from your foods should help. really you should check what you are eating and your multi to make sure you are getting what you need. Even as a beggie lover and taking a multi I was deficient in potassium doing extended induction and based on my blood wortk my doc prescribed a potassium supplement.

                        if you are calcium deficient your body will pull calcium from your bones to fix your blood calcium levels but that chemicals that dose that will also mess up your thyroid hormones and they are needed by every cell in your body for metabolism. that is where the milk your diet ads were born.

                          Extended Induction isn't likely to help you lose "more".

                          Most of your weight should be lost in OWL ... that's why the phase is called "Ongoing Weight Loss".

                            Ok I'm really confused by your stats in your siggy. Which are correct? Do you have a lot to lose or do you only have 14lbs to lose?
