    Hello

    I have read that fiber in form of flax seed is good on the takins diet [but notthe induction stage?] and i have also read many people talk about eating carbs and then eating fiber [in form of flax seeds] and the crabs being 'diminished' this way... did I understand this right?

    so if i eat 4 g carbs and 4 g fibre, the barbs will dissapear? [not effect my body?] sorry if i got that wrong im still learning

    Sorry but none of that is correct except for the fact that flax seed is mostly fiber. You can have it on induction but limited and it doesn't get rid of the carbs you eat. It adds to your daily fiber and is an aid in constipation and helps lower cholesterol. I eat milled flax seed almost everyday now that I am on OWL and love it. I make a microwave muffin for breakfast.

    Please if find a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution ..it's really cheap online and you can sometimes find it at the local library or book store.
    Read it cover to cover and pay close attention to the acceptable foods list. The book is the best tool on this WOE (way of eating). It's good that you came and asked this question because you will HEAR a lot of stuff about this WOE but if you haven't read the book you won't know whats true or not.
    This is a Low Carb plan..not a no carb plan. Its a 4 phase plan and its a permanent plan. You never go off ..you just eat maintenance foods when you hit goal.

      Soulthinking, just noticed your sig. Where is your son stationed? I was with the Dark Horse's (3rd Bat, 5th Marines, 1st M.D.) out of Camp Pendleton. No longer in the Marines now tho (received a medical discharge in '06 after being wounded in Fallujah in '04).

        when you add fiber carbs it increases you total carbs not your net carbs.
        since we count net carbs eating fiber will not lower any of your already consumed carbs nor any to be consumed carbs.

        for example if you had already eatten 12 total carbs with 2 of those as finber your net would be 10

        if you add 4 grams of carbs of fiber to that your total will be 16 but your net will still be 10 ( 16- 2 -4=10)

        One thing you need to keep in mind about flax seed meal is it also has fats and some protein so you will be increasing your cals fats and proteins each time you consum it so you need to be thinking of it as a food not a fiber.

          thank you so much everyone that was really helpful. I am starting my diet tomorrow and will also start reading the book again. i wont eat the flax seed meal in the induction phase anyway.. so no need to worry about that just yuet... have to get mmy head around net carbs/other carbs...
