  • lost first week of Induction, gaining second week WTF!

ON my first week I lost 11 pounds putting me at 142lbs. I'm on Day 11 of Atkins and I went up 5lbs! And I did a ketone test and I'm in ketosis. WTF is going on around here? It's quite depressing. Is it the Atkins Breakfast bars I ate last week? That extra cup of Decaf with cream with splenda? Or am I eating too many veggies? Do I need to eat less than the 3 cups to start loosing again?

    How annoying.

    Anyone going though this?

Post your menues in the Review My Menu forum so they can look at it there and critique it.

Also go to the 14 Day Induction Forum and read the sticky called "Weight loss is not linear".

Also read the FAQ forum for the stickies about ketones.

Oh my. You're on induction and you're eating "frankenfoods"? Have you read your DANDR?

To do a "clean" induction, you MUST eat ONLY that which is on the acceptable foods list.

Are you drinking enough water? Are you exercising? How about posting a menu so we can see if there might be other things on there that are not legal. :nod

drop the bars and see what happens there is a whole section on the Atkins site to advise you what to do when they stall out your weight loss. I don't know about you but when I know a food has a whole section already writen on what to do about stalls it causes I don't eat that food.

You could have a lot of reasons for adding the weight just read your chapter 11 and get back to the propper induction foods first and see from there how you are doing. weight loss isn't always linear and you can be gain fluid mass while burning off fat mass but the scales will not tell you cause they only show the change in total mass. Make friends with your tapemeasure and watch thre inches of fat melting off as you do a propper Atkins.

          Happy low carbing.

This happened to me during my first two weeks of induction. I lost 10 pounds the first week and gained 5 pounds the second week.

It COULD be the bars, but I doubt it. My total loss for induction was 5 pounds. Disappointing, but that's life. I did a very strict, clean induction, no 'frankenfoods', no sweetners at all, no caffeine, no nothing, only legal foods. Still I lost 10 and then gained back 5.

What it really means is you probably lost a good 6 pounds of fat! and the other 5 pounds was water weight. Not true weight anyway, so don't sweat it.

And since you have under 50 pounds to lose, 6 pounds puts you at average metabolic resistance for weight loss according to DANDR, so you are right on target and you still have 3 days to go! You may still drop some more weight. Drink lots of water.
