Re: Atkins while Travelling
lilbird1981,
Is that your birth year, 1981? Me too.
On the real point, I think you are missing what these wonderful people are trying to tell you. Atkins is a well formulated plan that needs to be followed correctly. Induction is a very strict program for two weeks that requires you to follow certain rules like:
1. Drink 64 ounces of water or more per day
2. Give up almost all forms of other liquids except for water for two weeks (there are exceptions.) Get rid of caffeine from coffee, sodas, teas and others.
3. Give up aspertame sweetener
4. Eat up to 20 g of net carbs in mostly vegetables each day.
5. Eat less than 4 ounces of cheese per day
6. Stay away from all sugars.
7. Track all foods using fitday.com or other food tracking info
8. Try to keep your fat/protein/carb ratios from your food to 65%/30%/5%
9. Give up alcohol; even low-carb beers if possible
10. OWL rung 1(Ongoing weight loss) comes after Induction, which may last for 2-4 weeks, and then you get to add 5 net carbs of extra veggies. This lasts for a number of weeks before going to OWL rung 2
There are many other things that you must learn about this diet and you can only learn them in the book. Get the book and read ALL chapters. Too many times, these wonderful people have watched people do their own thing and fail miserably, only to come on this webpage and say "I NEED HELP" or "I GIVE UP" or "WHAT AM I DOING WRONG" I was one of these people, but I listened and I learned......still learning though.
Believe me, heed their advice.....
By the way, I travel two weeks per month and I have no problem bringing food in and out of the airport. Water is usually confiscated, but they almost never bother me with food requirements. Good Luck!

Airlines are also pretty good at keeping their passengers hydrated, so do take advantage of that.
