  • How do i find Ham without sugar

I spent a half hour looking around at the local market and every ham related product i found had sugar & carbs on the nutrition sticker.

What do i look for or ask for if i want just plain ham?

I havent been to whole foods since i started atkins. Do they have what im looking for do you think?

    Thanks

Try to find the one with the least amount of sugar.

This might be a purely regional thing, but I can find a product called a "smoke picnic"---it's a pork shoulder that has been smoked only, not cured and smoked. The curing process typically involves sugar. It tastes like ham. The thing is, it's large and you'll need freezer space for it. And the ones I find locally are not pre-cooked. Anyhow, I use it for flavoring foods (like when I cook green beans or greens) rather than having it as a main dish. Although when I was a child, I had an aunt who would bake a smoked picnic, just as you would a ham.

Oscar Mayer has an all natural brand of ham with no sugar, nitrates, or preservatives although it is kind of pricey, but sometimes you just want some ham and it is quite good The ingredients are ham & celery juice and maybe salt, I 'm not at home so I can't look, and I can't find it online amazingly enuf, thought everything was online these days lol, but def no sugar
