  • Please tell me it will be o.k!!

Hi everyone...so I am on my third week on the atkins.I lost 13lb in the first week I am thrilled about that!

But for the past 12 days I haven't lost a thing? I know how lucky I was to lose weight so quickly and don't expect miracles but had hoped I would at least lose maybe a pound a week!

Also my ketosticks have stopped changing colour ...probably nothing to worry about..I haven't changed my diet at all and I am sticking firmly to induction.

Did this happen to anyone else? Did you go for a few weeks without losing anything? Please tell me it will work I just feel a bit sad like it's not working anymore..I know I am probably being silly but thanks if anyone else has been through the same I would love to know!

Maybe you should move to OWL.

If you want to post a typical day's menu, with quantities and carb counts, we can take a look.

        What are the net carbs?

How much net carbs in vegetables are you getting?

        How many chicken wings?

        What's "loads" of water?

Re: Please tell me it will be o.k!!

about 8 -10 pints of water and 10-15 net carbs a day from veg if I have cheese its no more than 2 0z and I don't have cheese more than 3 times a week and even then it would not take my net carbs above 20.I am probably just adjusting to a new woe and I am sure my body will kick start again and I am just worrying over nothing! Just need some reassurance even though DANDR does say stalls are perfectly normal!Just wanted to hear that others have had the same situation!

Can you show exactly how you're counting the net carbs in the vegetables?

Sorry no not exactly I know for a fact everything I eat is well within the induction range by reading labels..I don't eat anything starchy and my veg/salad are below 1 gram per portion.I eat no more than 2 at the most 3 cups a day and am an avid label reader.I know I am well under 20 net carbs a day so it can't be that ..I am eating exactly what DANDR suggests have plenty of fish, eggs and meat..only eat 3 times a day..no snacks! well I must be doing something right to have lost 13lb so far and lets just hope its just my body is just being careful and holding me back before a woosh!! I am praying as I really haven't cheated or wanted to once!!

Re: Please tell me it will be o.k!!

It's also common to stall right after Induction.

Are you measuring? It's not really a stall unless you go 4 weeks without losing pounds OR inches.

Just give it time. Weight loss is not always linear! (There's a faq around here about it). If you're doing things right, it will work. If you're not sure, post a specific menu with net carb totals etc. and folks can offer suggestions.

                    >>I eat no more than 2 at the most 3 cups>>

Without knowing exactly what you at 2 or 3 cups of, it's hard to know if you're counting correctly.

Being "well under" 20 net carbs a day isn't the way to do it ... you should be as close to 20 net as possible.

Undereating, both in net carbs or calories is counter productive with Atkins.

It's hard to imagine how you got 10-15 net carbs from vegetables ... especially when you won't tell what exactly you ate or how much of it.

Only asking to try to help!

sorry not being very helpful am I ...I don't find it easy counting net carbs it's hard enough adding my sons maths homework and he's 6 nevermind net carbs arghhh! lol! I eat 2-3 mushrooms half an onion.4 slices of jalapeno.half a cup of spinach..and lettuce and half a tomato..some slices of red pepper..2 radish 4 slices of cucumber..a day..........not 100% sure what the net carbs are just read the labels and try to work out what I am eating within my allowed range.I also know I get carbs from cheese but that is not more than 2 oz. I really am not carbing out .I won't worry anymore I just am starting to panic that nearly 2 weeks without losing a pound isn't normal :-(

You might try using FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal ... you really need to know how much you're eating ... it becomes critical on OWL.

It could mean that you've put your body into famine mode ... without knowing your daily carbs or calories, you can't know what's really going on!

I am not exactly sure how much I lost on induction because I never weighed myself or did measurements. I used a pair of pants that were too small as my guideline. When I finally got on the scale to weigh myself was around the 2nd week of January and I know that I have only lost about 5 pounds since then. I also know that I am continuing to lose some inches.

I guess what I am trying to say is that although my weight isn't exactly high and it is going a bit slower than I would like, I continue to eat on plan and know that the way I feel is enough for me right now. I know that it didn't take me a few months to gain the extra weight that I gained so why should I lose it so quickly. I am also satisfied with the fact that although it is slow I do not feel deprived.

                              Good luck!
