      Hey Peytonn, welcome home.

They have tested me twice for Thyroid Cancer but I was the lucky one. Although my doctor told me it's probably the most curable there is, so thats lucky.

Yeah, your posting in the wrong place, LOL, but doesn't matter to me and if it matters to the mods, they'll just move it.

hey there Have you had your free T4 and free T3 checked to be sure you are getting enough thyroid replacemnt medication? if you had your thyroid removed you need more then synthroid as it is just T4 and the thyroid makes T1 T2 T3 and T4.

Boy you are going to need to be inshape for that peachtree run as it is hot humid and long.

I have just reached my 2yr. mark of being free of thyroid cancer. I had papillary Stage 2. My full thyroid was removed by surgery and the RAI followed. Because I have reached the 2yr. mark my doc is reducing my synthroid to normal levels as he believes the risk of more cancer cells developing has decreased.
I hope your recovery goes well. I have loved the ThyCa site and Boards for support and to know that your not alone in your battle. Have you had to do the Low Iodine diet yet?

thanks for the welcome back and responses... yeah.. I looked at the cancer forum.. I also noticed that nobody was posting there.... and that's why I left last time.. nobody talked to me.. lol

I have only been on synthroid for 10 days... they did blood work again this week.. have an appt. again next week..

my endo skipped town.. can't see another one until June... so my GP is taking care of me until then...

99 of 100 nodules are NOT cancer... go figure... and 85% are papillary... (as I remember it).. mine was the more aggressive.. follicular... about golf ball size....

              my burning question right now...

will synthroid prevent the sticks from turning purple? no purple for me yet..

like I said.. mine was follicular... and yes.. I did the RAI ablation thing Feb. 2.. was in hospital for 3 days.. now my skin is peeling... began synthroid on Feb. 8 (my surgeon called in the original prescription since my endo has skipped town)

a friend from the Alter Bridge board also had papillary... and sent me to the ThyCa place.. but I don't post there... I guess it was too depressing or something for me... might try it again though...

I didn't have to do low iodine.. (I did cut back some on my own.. just from what my friend had said).. when I asked about low iodine at the hospital... the radiology guy said that the docs there in town don't really recommend patients do low iodine in the beginning (he explained but I don't really remember)

maybe they will think it's more important when I go to the new endo in June (and I'll have body scans coming up again then)

follicular metatasizes to bone and lungs more than lymph nodes (as I understand it).. but my initial I-131 uptake and scans didn't indicate any spread.. (he said there was residual in my stomach and kidneys but that was to be expected)

ok.. maybe I'll try the ThyCa boards again.. I think I did register there... but.. I've got to lose weight.. I'm at my all time high

(my biopsies were 'inconclusive'.. so.. they removed the half of the thyroid with the tumor on Dec. 4,.. I had to wait until Dec. 9 for the call from the doctor telling me it was cancer (that's the first time I cried).. went back in for the total removal on Dec. 11).. was without a thyroid or thyroid hormone until Feb. 8... (I was supposed to see endo on March 3.. but was feeling kinda tired, so decided there was no point waiting 3 more weeks feeling lousy... and called to learn he was gone.. lol)

cancer is a crazy thing.. this is my 2nd in a year.. (melanoma in 2008.. thyroid in 2009).. i want to be DONE with this thing.. for good!

                  thanks for letting me rant...

I guess I need to send some more money.. lol

thanks for the advice.. I'm just on synthroid now.. don't even know about the others.....

it will be my 20th peachtree.. I USED to be able to do it in 48 minutes.. lol.. now .. there's so many people.. it's not as much fun as it was in 1990.. but.. I'll be there.. no matter what..

somebody link me to the forums at the thyca place... I can't find them now..

all I see is too much mess for me to keep up with..

that's what my surgeon said... something like 'if you're going to get cancer, this is the one to get'

(although my best friend's son knew a girl who died at age 20 from anaplastic)

my surgeon also said ... my husband thought this was cool 'you're going to have to find something else to die from, this one won't kill you'

my skin is peeling.. like i was sunburned... the I-131 ablation thing made me so sick.. my skin is literally like snake scales right now.. allllll over my body.. it's dark brown and cracked.. looks like mud in the bottom of a dried up mud hole

                      lol

it's so good to be back.. and on track.. again

Hopefully not an ongoing problem (fingers crossed). It seemed to come from nowhere a month ago. I have an appointment with the rheumatology department of our local hospital on Monday hwere I hope they will have more idea of what happened and what can be done than my GP does.
I do soooo miss exercising - never thought I'd ever say that

still searching for the answer to:

does synthroid prevent sticks from turning purple.. I should be at least PINK stix by now..

Is this the keto sticks you are talking about? I never saw a colour change even when losing several pounds a week
