        Re: coffee/stall

Whether coffee speeds up your metabolism or not, for some folks it also causes increases in hunger/eating, it adds a little bit of carbs in and of itself, if you use cream or splenda there are some carbs added there also (sometimes a lot more than you realize), plus it may displace some of the necessary water ingestion for some folks.

I still drink coffee but have cut down on the caffeine by reducing the quantity plus drinking mostly decaf or half caf. I know it adds carbs to my daily total because I add cream to mine and have to cut back somewhere else to make up for that. I also know it makes it a lot harder for me to get enough water in each day. I continue to work on this issue but at least I am aware of it. It does not seem to affect my cravings (have none really) or appetite, so at least I don't have that side effect to deal with.

*added thought - I have frequently seen a "cup" of coffee listed in nutritional info, etc, as being a 6 ounce cup or maybe an 8 ounce cup. The average coffee mug probably holds significantly more than that... mine is closer to 12 ounces. So each "cup" (mug) I have is really a cup and a half and I count it as such (I actually just count it by ounces).
