    Hello All,

I started atkins diet last August and lost a lot of weight, then christmas came I fell off the wagon and found it hard to get back. New year came started again then my grandmother died and an end of a long relationship pushed me right back to the carbs. I gained almost the weight I had lost back with exception of 6 pounds. I decided enough is enough I need to back on track so I have restarted the induction as from Monday with more determination than ever. I am 5"3 weighing 183 pounds (13.1 stone) with a weight target of 112 pounds (8 stones). I have a long way to go but I plan to take it one day at a time.

There seems is a great support system here and look forward to being part of it.

Any advice on how I can keep myself motivated even during emotional times?

    Thank you

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I take it one day at a time. I would set mini goals for myself like 5 pounds and before I knew I was down 65. I relized if I my expectations were too high too quick I got depressed. Every time I reach a 5 lb goal I will get a cheap t shirt. I always got them too small and now I have a new wardrobe and can fit into them. I also bought a size 10 shorts last winter for 3 dollars on clearance and now I can wear them. I was a size 18 in October. I kept them hanging up in the front of my closet and said I am going to wear them by summer. It kept my mind on track. I too have my days where I fall off but said I have spent too much money on small clothes not to be able to use them. It gave me my motivation. Keep going and soon you will be where you want.

What has saved me during many stressful and emotional times is realizing that giving myself a "treat" in the form of junk food (or even too much "good" food) won't help, won't make me feel better. It will make me feel worse physically, more run-down, tired out and yucky, AND I'll have to deal with feeling guilty for cheating, in addition to dealing with whatever else is going on in my life. Not worth it!

So I try to treat myself with non-food stuff, like taking a nap, reading a good book, listening to a CD (without doing anything else at the same time!), calling up a long-distance friend, etc., etc., etc. Those things actually are treats -- they help you feel better.

              Hi Tianna,

I find that when I am going through a hard patch, I come to ADBB and just read posts and keep writing, sometimes more about myself than to answer a post... because I find it helps me keep my mind off things and sometimes I get encouraged when I see a post I can relate to.

There's always going to be someone around at ADBB because when America sleeps the rest of the world are either already awake or waking up!

              Cheers.

I just recently started over again, too. I was doing so well....until today. I woke up, and even after only a few days, I could feel a difference (I have not stepped on the scales yet). But then I got stressed today and cheated. :anger

This is a great place for support. The people here are very dedicated to low-carb living and are succeeding.

I hope we will join them soon!

Planning is the key for me. It has been a consistent message I have spoken since beginning Atkins in my nearly 16 months with this WOL. Due to some difficult circumstances, I've been unable to plan the way I have in the past and I find it frustrating. But what I've learned is that it can be done, stress or no stress. Information is key. Understanding hidden carbs is key. And for me, journaling each and every day is important. It keeps me honest to myself.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Thank you very much everyone for your support and much needed advice. I am truly in the right place. Today is my seventh day and this morning I just couldn't help weighing myself. I am amazed, surprised and shocked that I am down 9 pounds, I know it's mostly water but it sure does give this girl some major encouragement.

I love this way of eating.

Tianna, just remember, we're all in this together. You don't have to do this alone. I read the ABBR faithfully, everyday, so I keep the momentum going, and try to keep positive all the time...remember the glass is 1/2 full scenerio, and you'll succeed!
