            Re: Olympic hockey

Talk about a nail biter! Lots of pressure in our town as I am from Eric Staals home town, and we have the largest per capita output of professional NHL players. I don't even watch hockey, but I was watching this one. Even little kids at the sports restaurant where I was watching this were screaming. Crazy.

I actually ended up sleeping through the game. I'm just upset at the fact that Crosby got the goal. I personally think he is overrated and they give him WAY too much attention. Now it'll be even worse for the next couple months. Nash, Iginla, Heatley and many other players did far better then him in the tourney but won't get the recognition they deserve.

bizzare sport altogether. never watched ice hockey before and only watched the match because there was nothing else on tv. great game for the neutral.

What is bizarre about it? It is just like soccer (sorry - football), but on ice (Ok, with sticks & a puck instead of a ball...)

The colour contrast is so nice. It is all very cultural that.

Oh yeah...I keep forgetting that soccer is non-contact. I grew up watching hockey - the contact/fighting doesn't phase me unless it gets really ugly.

On a funny note, I was recently in Mexico, and the nice folks at our hotel broadcast (off the web) the Women's hockey gold-medal game at one of the hotel's bars. It was funny watching the hotel staff's reaction to what little pushing & shoving there was in the ladies' game. It got HUGE reactions
