  • Disappointed

I'm disappointed because I am on my third week and really haven't lost anything in the last two weeks. I'm using ketostix every day and they show I am in ketosis. I have stayed under 20 carbs (around 15 really). I don't have cravings anymore (SO THANKFUL!) I have 3 oz cheese everyday, allowed veggies and meats. I don't drink any shakes or eat bars. I essentially cut out all sweeteners (well I add a little in allowed recipes that call for it). I am quitting eating when I am satisfied. I cut out olives and avacados as suggested. The inches are not going down. (although I think my face is thinner) Someone tell me that just because I have stalled in induction that the pounds will start falling off again someday. I drink 80 plus oz water per day. I have stayed in induction as it allows if you want to keep losing at a faster pace (???) How could I ever start OWL if I already have slowed down. It would look like my carb tolerance is 20.

This is very very common, Ellen and just keep on, keepin on and the pounds will start to go soon. Its not a stall yet. Stay off the scales for awhile as they are evil, pure evil

Can you post a typical menu, with net carbs and quanities?

      It's possible you're undereating.

You haven't "stalled" in Induction ... a stall is defined as no weight loss or inches lost for 4 weeks.

        Re: Disappointed

Sorry to hear you have not lost as fast as you hoped, Ellen
However in your stats it looks as if you HAVE lost some weight since you started - about 8 pounds, which is about 20% of your hoped-for total of 39 pounds, which means you have a low resistance to weightloss.

It could just be that you are one of those people who lost a lot in the first week or so of your first 14 days, and that your body is just going through the frequently talked-about 'post induction stall syndrome' (I'll leave it to you to work out the acronym for that )

In that case your best bet would be to move to OWL now and give your body more 'good carbs' to increase any vitamins and minerals etc you are missing on induction levels/food choices.

        Worth a try???
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Do you workout? Sometimes we need to get the body moving a little bit just to get the metabolism engine going...
Do you want a solution, or do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, which is what kept you the way you are.

            Re: Disappointed

You are most likely in that post Induction adjustment period. There are also a significant number of people for whom moving on to OWL rung one actually gets their losses moving again. If this week shows no losss, consider adding 5 more grams of veggie and moving on to rung one.

Thank you all SO MUCH! I did weigh myself when I .got up and it's down to 170. I'll try to stay off the scale and have faith. I am committef to no more food cravings and being controlled by my appetite. It feels so good!

                Re: Disappointed

When I moved from Extended Induction, with a two-week "stall", to OWL rung 1, I lost 7 pounds the next week. Your body is scared and you can reassure it with a few more carbs. I call my body the "little kid." My body acts like a little kid having a temper tantrum. When I miss drinking my water for a day or have too little carbs, it runs into the corner and screams and won't talk to me. You have to talk it out of the corner by letting it know that you are taking care of it and not trying to hurt it. More water, more carbs and all of your supplements will make your body relax. Look at this from the Macro level. Focusing on this WOE on a day to day basis is the kiss of death.

                  miller98, love your post.

i stalled after induction and moved up it took 2 weeks to start losing again (after TOM was done). i am now going down slowly, but surely. so my advice is to move to rung1.

                    Re: Disappointed

Wow, thank you all so much. OK, the voice of experience is accepted. I am going to move up to 25 carbs a day which is the beginning of rung 1. So, I choose a serving of carrots (?) 3x this week? But 25 carbs every day, right? I don't know why this part is soooo confusing to me. It's why I have never moved on from Induction and just have yo-yo'd. I read the book but I don't get it.

                      NO!!!

                      Carrots come much later.

You add 5 net carbs of an acceptable vegetable for Induction ... from the list in your book or here:

                          Re: Disappointed

ok, I'm reading pages 170 n 171. It does say the allowed Ind veggies. I don't know where I got the idea I was supposed to start adding back new veggies.

But, it tells me to go up 5 carbs every week unless my weight loss stops. That's what makes no sense. I had 23 carbs yesterday. My weight was a lb. heavier. Prob salt? How can anyone count on losing weight every week to know if this is their CCLL? Should we really be adding back 5 every week? Or 5 until we see we have lost more weight?

On page 159 it says "before you even think about stepping up from Induction, consider the possibility of staying with it for a while longer...If you.. have difficulty losing weight, you might want to do Induction for quite a while. That way you'll see dramatic progress before moving on to the more moderate phases of the program."

                          I started Feb 12 at 179. On Feb 16 I weighed 172. I am 171 now on March 5?? Why wouldn't I opt for more "dramatic progress" ? (Because it's not?)

                            Re: Disappointed

Most people lose 5-10% of their total desired weight loss in Induction. You lost much more than that, so I'd say that's pretty dramatic! For reference, I have way more to lose than you, and I only lost like 7.5 lbs in my 14-day Induction.
