you are correct if the IV fluids had been full of glucose that would have knocked you out of ketosis becuase the sugar is right there in your bllod right then. however as soon as you processed that glucose load however small it was you would have returned to ketosis cause while the glucose was being used those ketones that your body had made before the glucose was administered would still be there waiting to be used up or peed out.
Orginal gatoraide was an electrolyte replacement solution that tasted awful and was lower carb. the current stuff is mostly sugar and very high carb. However many folk who don't keep up with the changes think gatoraide is still electrolyte based so that could be what they were telling you.
Oh and it is important for you to tell the doctor you are low carbing before the proceedure so they don't panic when ketones show up in your blood and urine. cause they might think you were having a diabetic reaction and trat you accordingly
