Re: Question About Fiber VS Carbs...Need Help
If those link do not load. I simply plugged in a cup of snowpeas into each database.
Fitday told me a cup of snowpeas is around 6 net carbs and USDA told me a cup of snowpeas is around 3 net carbs. And spark people tells me it is around 4 net carbs..
What should i do..this is pretty discouraging

Re: Question About Fiber VS Carbs...Need Help
Fitday has 1 cup whole snow pea pods at 4.8 total carbs and 1.6 fiber.
The USDA site has 1 cup whole "peas, edible-podded, raw" at 4.76 total carbs and 1.6 fiber.
What entries were you using at each site?J.

pick one site and use it. they may be a little off but you will be consistant in your counts.
also if you want Dr Atkins results then you need to count his way and he says cheese has one gram of carbs per ounce not the .2 grams for cheddar fitday and the USDA will sayby the book atkinseer

Re: Question About Fiber VS Carbs...Need Help
That might be, but Dr. Atkins said to count 1 ounce of cheese as 1 net carb in DANDR 2002. And since this is the Atkins diet, not the USDA diet or the fitday.com diet, then we count 1 ounce of cheese as 1 net carb, as 2Big said in her post.Originally posted by atkinsgal08 View PostBoth the USDA and Fitday have 1 ounce of cheddar at 0.36 net carbs per ounce.

Megs,
Thank you for clarifying the carb count of cheese per DANDR.
I wasn't discussing the cheese count per DANDR.
I was correcting 2big's comment on what the USDA and Fitday said:
" also if you want Dr Atkins results then you need to count his way and he says cheese has one gram of carbs per ounce not the .2 grams for cheddar fitday and the USDA will say"
You'll notice I never addressed the Dr. Atkins way to count cheese.J.

My point is it doesn't matter if the carb count for an ounce of cheese is 0.2 carbs or 0.3 carbs or 0.299999999999999999991 carbs.Originally posted by atkinsgal08 View PostMegs,

If you are following Dr. Atkin's Diet and the way Dr. Atkins counts his carbs, then 1 ounce of cheese is 1 net carb, no matter what the USDA or fitday or whoever says. And if you are entering cheese into a fitday account it should be entered as a custom food like "cheese 1 ounce 1 carb", so you won't get the impression that you have only eaten 1.2 net carbs and so you can eat 4.6 more more carbs without going over 20 net carbs.

I guess should have known when USDA site updated in 2009 they would change the values for cheese too. it was .2 in 2003 cause I did a post here about OWlers not using the entire 5 net grams for cheese and think they could have 25 ounces of cheddar.by the book atkinseer
