  • Protein Question

So, everyone I am now trying to adjust my protein intake to make sure I am not overdoing it. Can you all share your average in grams per day? Also I know the amounts should be different because of height or sex. I am 5' 4" and female.

    thanks

    Re: Protein Question

actually body weight should be factored in there too as those who have more lean body mass will need more protein.

On atkins induction we mostly eat protien and fats so our intake of protein will be higher then what you would be eating if you were doing the USDA eating plan.

And that is okay because low carbers use protein to make the missing glucose the body needs to have for the body parts that can't use fatty acids nor ketones and to keep blood sugar levels stable went cells suck glucose out of the blood stream even if they could have used fatty acids or ketones.

The minimum amount of protein grams you want is your body weight in pounds divided by 2.2 for a low carber. then you can ajust it upwards to get the atkins 30% of total cals eatten protein intake for induction eating

I consume anywhere from 1.3 to 1.75 g of protein per kg of body weight.

        Re: Protein Question

On fitday we try to get the protein fat ration to be around 65-30. It usually tells you that you are ball park OK. I am all over the place with protein but it usually works out that my fat is pretty high and protein around 30

          Re: Protein Question

Well my protein has been in the 30% range but I am probably eating to many calories. I know that since I am not 200lbs+ anymore (Thank God and Atkins) that I need to adjust my caloric intake accordingly especially since I haven't been working out (hanging head in shame) Well, anyway I am gonna play around with the numbers to try to get them to a good place. I think I need to stay around 1800 cal and the 30% protein. Thanks everyone for your help.
