Paytonn, you might want to check the packaging ingredients. Most of them use soy or other ingredients to help preserve them - those aid in a stall! I know ... I commented on them in another forum and got bombarded with this type of information!

lol.. yeah.. I understand the 'bombarded part'....

but.. on second look.. I guess I need to give up the tuna..

      it says
white tuna, water, vegetable brothe, salt, pyrophosphate
      then underneath.. it says

      Contains: Fish, Soybeans

      what the heck...

ok.. i only one more pack anyway.. my cats will love the treat

Remember, they don't list mercury on the tuna package either!

Who would buy something that's got a neurotoxin in it!

Yes, you can continue Atkins when you're sick. It also depends on what your "sick" is ... what you might be able to tolerate eating.

My take on falling off the wagon when you are sick...depends how sick you are and other factors come into play...and how do you define falling off the wagon.

If you have a 104 fever and can barely make it out of bed, and have no one to help you, you sure aren't gonna get up and start cooking pork chops and and a veggie stirfry. You will most likely eat nothing, or pop a can of soup in the micro. Or nibble on crackers to settle your stomach.

When I had the flu last Nov, I was really sick all of a sudden, and my hubby was going out of town the same day I got sick. He took me to the DR, took me home, and put me in bed, then he went filled my prescriptions, ran to the store to buy what he thought I sick person could handle, and then left for the airport 2 hours after he got home from the store.

He bought me chicken noodle soup, crackers, WholeWheat bread, PEANUT BUTTER-EEK!, and Kraft Am Cheese Slices, and a few things like that. (He didn't ask what I wanted, he just bought what he thought would get me through the next 4-5 days. I had to deal with what I had when I felt a little better after 2 days. Too sick to get, eat, or prepare Atkins food even if I wanted it. The soup and crackers were all I could handle to fix or eat. And so I had to eat what I had in the house.

Now if you have a cold or something not as serious, that is a different story. That does not tie you down as badly as a high fever, and no one to help you out. So food should not be as much of a problem, with less reason to "fall off the wagon." And of course, on OWL and maintenance,
those foods would not be too far off, but if you are on Induction or rung 1,2, those items are totally not good.

Just my opinion. Let's just hope we don't have to deal with it!!!

Peytonn when is your next thyroid blood test?

until they get your hormones regulated with replacement T3 and T4 you will have weight loss issues as your body has to work much harder then a normal person does just to get your metabolism running below normal. When yout free T4 and free T3 are back in normal for you levels you willhave an easier time shedding body fat working your atkins.

Holy catfish that was not what an atkins support system DH is supposed to do. Glad you survived.

One reason some folk fall off when ill is the immune system needs energy and it calls for fast fuel. The brain knows fast fuel is sugars so it tells folk to eat sugar foods and fats take time to digest even though they will give more fuel carbon for carbon then sugars will. since the bacteria and virus will eat sugar too just feeding our body normal for our phase foods should help us get well faster.

Re: What is the longest period of time you did not lose any weight?

It really depends on the degree of sickness. For me I had a sore throat and a cough. So it was hard to swallow anything hard. So broth with a little meat in it. And a couple pieces of soft fruit which I hardly ever eat . I count my blessings I haven't been sick with a cold for almost 3 years. When you have a cold you can't have any dairy of any kind because it makes thing worse. I hope it is another 3 years before I ever get another cold again.

my last endo skipped town .. so my surgeon called in the synthroid... and then I saw my GP for tests Feb. 15.... she wants me to come back in April ... for another test...

but I dont' see another endo until June 4 (and by that time it will be time for more body scans soon.. so they'll be taking me OFF the synthroid again... to prep for the scan)...

it's a mess.. but.. I lost some pounds fast... (about 9)... now it's just slowed down..

                        Hi 2BIG-

Yes, I know!!!EEEK, he thought since he was going back out of town, he would buy the easiest stuff for a person who can barely drag herself out of bed. His intentions were good, even though he knows I am following Atkins, and he felt so bad he had to leave again, especially me being sick. He only flew in for 5 days, which included Thanksgiving, a wake, a funeral, and taking me to the dr the morning I awoke sick. If I wasn't sick, he would have looked at his choices 100% differently.

I've gone the last several months without losing any weight, but I know it's because I've been overeating. I'm not eating non-Atkins foods, just too much of the good stuff. I swear I could binge on lawn clippings.

I'll get back on track, though. Posting here helps, and I know that's been something missing from my life lately.
