Re: Calories too high? and carbs too low?

I've found that if it works, don't fix it. But if it's not working, well...

Too many calories will create weight gain no matter how you cut it. I found, too, that when I count ALL the carbs... as in carbs in coffee and tea, those partial carbs in eggs and cheese and cream, those partial carbs in spices, yeah they add up real quick. I'm curious, are you counting ALL your carbs? There are so many foods labeled as zero carbs that are simply partial carbs... eat enough of the stuff and we can go overboard easily.

i was pretty amazed at how many cals i was eating and even what the indivdual calorie count is off an individual food and also the carb count from a little bit of this and that and how it all adds up. ive had to change my eating plan especially for my morning and afternoon snack. ive changed the quantity and what im eating and up to friday its actually felt ok and well worth it and have lost two pounds since my original post. only 27 pounds to goal weight

        Good 'tweaking'

With 25 pounds left to lose it is time to consider moving to the next phase of Atkins.

Ongoing weight loss (OWL) is the main phase of Atkins in my opinion, where you can discover how many carbs your body can cope with while losing and if any foods upset it.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

"felt ok" is not good enough. You've got to feel very good while still losing. If you keep at BMR for more than a couple of days, there will probably be some bouncing back of your weight, but not to your weight before you lowered calories. That's why I said only 2 days at BMR.

There is a very severe law of diminishing returns when you lower calories to increase the speed of weight reduction (or when you increase exercise dramatically, for that matter). Bounce-back occurs almost immediately as soon as either are relaxed. (Don't ask me why, because I don't know. Yes, I've done both and I've experienced both.)

Likely your still-losing calories will end up being in the large "neighborhood" of 2400. Maybe you can still lose with more, but you already have in the archives your experience at 3000. (But if you do find a way to lose at 3000 calories while weighing 160 lbs, please send me a copy of your menu! )
