i have been in ketosis and have remained there for 2 solid months.....the first week i lost 8lbs. i have not lost anymore since and have also gained it back. i test my urine everday and i am a strong purple color....indicating ketosis. i have been very strict on my diet and am an active person. i dont get it.....anyone have any ideas??

Light pink also indicates ketosis.
No color doesn't mean you're not in ketosis.
Rather than worry about the color your pee turns a stick, let's look at your food.
If you want to post a typical day's menu, with quantities and net carbs, we can take a look.
As "purple" can indicate dehydration, how much water are you drinking?J.

a typical day of eating involves...bfast...a biled egg and 2 slices of cheddar cheese....lunch...a chicken sandwich on low carb bread and more cheese....supper usually grilled chicken or other lean meat a salad with oil n vinegar....bedtime snack...usually more cheese (i love cheese). i drink aproxiamtley 3-4 quarts of water or crystal lite a day....sumtimes more.

You are not doing the Atkins diet. We follow rules. The first two weeks on the stage of induction where what we eat are clean proteins and a few veggies and plenty of clean water (for the most part) So you should by the book Dr.Atkins New Diet Revolution and follow it. (To a T)

On this bulletin board, we follow Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002. No bread is allowed during the induction period and can only be added at the appropriate rung of OWL.
You also appear not to be getting enough vegetables. Without knowing quantities of your food intake it is really impossible for people to comment on specific issues related to your intake.
From an initial read of your food, I'd say that you were following your own brand of Atkins and not the one that we subscribe to here. Perhaps some people who "low carb" but not with Atkins will jump in here.

I echo the other posters. Nowadays with Dr. A gone and Atkins Nutritional's marketing their new "Atkins Diet" it's easy to get mixed up, but you would do yourself a big favor by purchasing the 2002 copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution and reading it cover to cover.
To answer your questions disregarding the above statement for a moment, sounds like your eating too much cheese, the bread is a no-no, and a quart of crystal light could be a major problem...
If your fairly active remember your building muscle which is heavier than fat...

when i was a newbie at atkins i ate these 10 net carb whole wheat tortilla wraps
they 100% stalled my weight loss for months untill i finally cut them out and i see why cause whole wheat is a rung 9 food!
you need to learn how to do the diet properly just cause its low in carbohydrates doesn't mean its allowed on the diet

Yes this board does follow the 2002 version of Atkins. I love to read so out of curiosity I have read ALL Atkins books. There are no books that say you can have low carb bread during induction. NOT ONE. Please follow the induction rules. Just start from scratch eat 12-15 net carbs from the acceptable veggies and limit your cheese to 4oz a day drink a minimum of 64oz of water (u prob need more) Plenty of fat and I think you will see much better results. Also the ketones mean your burning fat but they don't tell you WHAT FAT you are burning. Your body can burn dietary fat first. So with a lot of cheese then thats a lot of fat. Just a thought.

Yes, this explains a lot... but don't worry. We all get off track. The good news is it's easy to get back to a plan that works. Please limit your cheese to 4 oz a day. I know it's hard. I love cheese, too.
Eliminate the low-carb bread and try a lettuce wrap or slice the chicken up into a garden salad instead. It didn't take long for me to no longer miss bread. You can also make Oopsie Rolls (google for the recipe) if you really want a sandwich. They're not as hard to make as they may look, and they're awesome.
Crystal Light is, I'm sorry to say, pretty chemical laden and carb heavy stuff. I'm actually surprised that you're in ketosis drinking it. Maybe try a splash of lemon juice to flavor your water if you really need it... but really try to not drink anymore of the "sugar-free" beverages and just retrain your tastebuds to enjoy water. It's worth it.
Finally I encourage you to get a copy of the book. It's a good read and has so much good info we don't have the space to include here. Best of luck to you and thanks for posting.

are you doing the 1992 DANDR and using the rule5 pick your own foods to make 20 grams of carbs?
is your low carb bread those yummy induction legal oopsie rolls?
if not then you need to drop the low carb bread and you are needing some veggies from the acceptable veggies lists.
Have you measured to see if you are still shedding body fat? the human body will replace lost fat with fluids until the bio chemical interferance from them causes your body to remove the fluids. while that is going on you can be shedding inches but no scale weight. Same thing if you are adding muscle mass which is denser then body fat so pound for pound you will be shrinking but not changing scale weight.
did you know being low in many vits and minerals found in those veggies can slow your weight loss?by the book atkinseer
