  • Question about Fitday food listings

A lot of times I notice a particular food not listed when I do the search over at Fitday... even though I know it's gotta be listed.

For example I just did a search for "red onions" and it comes up with all other types of onions. I've tried many different ways like "onion, red" "red, onions" "purple onions" etc and it doesn't come up for me.

I've had this problem with a few other foods but then later stumbled upon them listed! It's like the search doesn't prioritize what you typed in exactly.. so there may be 200 results for "red onions" but it could be listed anywhere.

Is there some sort of trick to this or what?

    Ben,

I can not find red onion, either.

And I bought a small can of "Kraut" at the store yesterday for the first time, (thought I might have a bit for lunch with the cooked chicken I had waiting for me at home), ingredients- cabbage. Could not find anything for canned cabbage in Fitday either. And I do not know what kind of cabbage it is to even guess, but I guess there isn't too much difference between most so I just picked one of the cooked cabbage.

I don't think red onion is actually there.

I think I use the one for "onion, mature, raw", which I know is more the yellow onion.

Or you could use "onion, sweet, raw", if a red onion is indeed "sweet". I think of sweet onions as Vidalias.

Even the USDA doesn't have "red onion".

For the cabbage, I would use "sauerkraut" or just cooked cabbage.

I just pick what I think is closest as well. I'd like to be exact though considering I'm weighing all my veggies by the gram.

You can make it a custom food:

            Red Onion
            J.
