  • Eggs do not fill me up...

Wow.. .my mind is busy this morning. This is my second thread... I was just suggested to eat boiled eggs if have a craving... that reminded me (I had wanted to ask like 2 days ago), but any whoo...

I realized when I eat eggs, they do not satisfy my hunger. I'm not sure really why. I have tried omlettes with spinach and cheese or chicken, red peppers, and cheese, and still I feel "empty"

I see most people eat eggs with bacon, sausage, etc... I wonder if that is the idea. I get to much fat and not enough protein... any ideas on this one.

    Thanks so much in advance!

Basically the idea behind eating a boiled egg, (or a cube of cheese etc...) is to hold you over for an hour until you can eat a real meal...

I don't eat pork religious reasons. I eat only halal meat similar to kosher meat. However, I haven't been able to find any (turkey/beef bacon/sausage) that doesn't have dextrose or nitrate in it!!!

Thanks God b/c I love fat... I will eat all the skin on the whole chicken if people leave me alone and I love the fat of lamb, so delicious... It was just I can't remember but something about not enough protein to balance out the fat ... I could be totally off track, have short term memory loss sometimes

You don't have to have bacon or sausage ... you could have any kind of meat at breakfast.

I know I love to put my own obstacles!!! Very bad habit and self destructing!!! A think slice of steak sounds nice though. Possibly I'll try that! Thanks for the reminder of stop making excuses... Although, do you know anything about the fat/protein idea?

                  What idea exactly?

That fat and protein fill you up?

It's quite true ... it's even talked about in your copy of DANDR.

When I was in college, my boyfriend and I visited his grandparents farm. Anyhow, his grandparents rarely ate bacon or sausage for breakfast, but they did have these "breakfast steaks"---about 1/4 inch thick piece of sirloin, that they would have in addition to eggs (and tomatoes....they liked tomatoes for breakfast too!) The steaks were very simply seasoned with salt and alittle pepper (nothing too bold and spicy for breakfast)

Perhaps you can fry up thin slices of meat and use that?

Eggs are already pretty well balanced. Feeling empty isnt' the same as feeling hungry. Unless you over eat you will feel "empty" most of the time. That just means you aren't stuffed. Just something you need to get use to. We spend so many years feeling full that we forget what it's like to just feel satisfied.

                        this is soooo true.
my husband doesn't think he is full until he feels almost sick from being too full.
it's been a long battle getting him used to being "satisfied" as opposed to "full".

actually you have that wrong folk eating sausage and bacon are adding much more fat then protein to their meal bacon is even classified as a fat by nutrtionist, not a protein source.

You can try making yourself a sandwich out of "Revolution Rolls" and whatever you want to put on it that is induction friendly. Some processed meats should be avoided as they contain additives that are limited or restricted.

I think the trick is making sure you have some fat from the bacon or sausage and adding a good amount of veggies. My favorite breakfast combo is sausage, a bit of onion, red pepper, and mushrooms scrambled with 3 eggs. I am always held over for about 5 hours.
