  • Help please! Exercise and Atkins questions

    To start off I love the idea of Atkin's & lookin foward to the new way's of my eating habit. I started Atkins 2 week's ago but im starting ALL OVER for the first few day's I did good & lost weight I am addicted to sugar, So I had my cravings & I gave in. So I gained the weight back. So I made myself homeade whip cream & put it on top of jello that deff took my cravings away.

    Itz been 2 day's now without sugar!!! YAY



    So I have a few question's & PLZ help by answering them.



    1. What's a good PROTEIN POWDER that I can mix with water? I would like to drink this after I work out.

    3. Any suggestion on sweet's on Induction.
    Is the Atkins bar gonna make me gain or loose weight?

    2. I also want to get some pills for heavy workout for the joint's?

    3. Should I also take women one a day vitamin & Vitmin b1?

    4. How much PROTEIN should I consum in a day?

    5. I eat alot of PROTEIN but what kind of FAT am I lookin into?

    6. How much SODIUM can I have in a day?

    7. Is Spam & Corn Beef ok?

    8. If the Nutrition fact's say 0 gram in sugar but ingredients say sugar, Then what?

    9. Can U also tell me what else I need to look for on Ingredients when I grocery shop, So I dont buy it?

    10. Im a ceaser addict & its real hard for me to eat my salad without it? Anyone know a brand without sugar?

    11. I drink Crystal Lite on a daily base, Will this do harm on my diet? But I drink alot of it.

    12. I heard Coffee takes Chocolate craving away is this true? I dont drink coffee (I know black is the way to go)

    13. Im gonna buy the book, Which book is the best?

    14. Don't forget about the Atkin Bar & sweet's?

    Anything else that I need to look into buying?

    The book you need is Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002). This book would answer a lot of your questions!

    Don't know about the B1 but the multi-vitamin shouldn't have iron unless your doctor has told you differently.

    Spam is not ... corned beef ... depends on what the list of ingredients is.

    Then it has carbs. Chapter 8 in the book you need to read explains how to read a nutritional food label.

    How To Read a Nutrition Label - Carbohydates might help until then.

    You need to know all the names of sugar for one thing, you need to avoid trans fats. Of course, if you're buying whole, unprocessed food, which is the basis of Atkins, then your food won't have a label.

    You'll have to read the labels.

    Yes, it will. The limit is 3 servings of sweetener a day ... and 8 ounces is a serving. Your body craves and needs water ... and Crystal Light isn't water.

        Heather,
        I have a sweet tooth as well. I noticed that if you can abstain from any sweet flavors, including sugar free sweeteners, that is best. I also read a good tip on the board that if you are craving sweets, you should eat the opposite, like a pickle, so you learn how to overcome the craving.

        But, if you want a treat every now and then, I really like the flax bread recipe that Bowulf has on youtube (2 TB flax seed, 1 TB melted butter, 1 egg, 1/2 ts baking soda, mix microwave 2 minutes). I sprinkle it with one packet of splenda and some cinnamon and it tastes like a waffle to me. I learned my lesson with cream cheese based desserts and try not to make them. It is SO easy to eat 4 ounces at one sitting and still not feel satiated, yet you just ate 400 calories.

        FYI - regarding caesar salad dressing, try making your own. I don't think its that difficult and you can get some healthy oils in it.

        I think the rest of your questions can be answered by the book.

          FYI - regarding caesar salad dressing, try making your own. I don't think its that difficult and you can get some healthy oils in it.
          Here is one list of ingredients for making caesar salad dressing from BBC - Food - Recipes: Classic chicken Caesar salad
          For the dressing
          150g/5oz parmesan, grated
          2 tbsp white wine vinegar
          250g/10½oz ready-made mayonnaise
          3 tbsp Dijon mustard
          2 anchovy fillets, rinsed
          pinch salt
          1 garlic clove, crushed
          50ml/2fl oz olive oil
          Assuming the mayo has no added sugar all the ingredients are 'legal' for induction.
