Re: how many berries ?
Some people have no berries... some people only have berries once in a blue moon... some people eat berries daily... and we all tolerate different amounts. Plus, different berries have different net carbs.Originally posted by jake1970 View Posti just wondered how many berries everyone else is having
Weigh the amount you eat and count the net carbs towards your total. In OWL, when you add any new food (with the exception of nuts), you add 5 net carbs worth of it.
It is fine... but if you are hungry, then you should eat nutritious food, not fill your stomach with gelatin.is homemade jelly ok i find it fills a gap when im hungry in the evening
Eating the whole fruit is better than drinking juice. The juice has no fiber... and it will have a larger impact on your blood sugar.some no added sugar juice"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: how many berries ?
I have blueberries and/or strawberries maybe 2-3 times a week. I'm really careful about measuring them however, as it's easy to overeat them unless you parcel them out first.
My CCLL is 30 so I have to plan when I'm going to have them. About 1/3 cup of blueberries OR 5 large strawberries = 5 net carbs (according to Fitday) so I have either or or a mix with a little cream. Yum!
You may want to measure more than guessing on "4-5 handfuls" a day. That may be more carbs than you think.Start date: 2/22/04 347/222/135 ~ 5'2"

Re: how many berries ?
I can eat some berries Ok - strawberries are fine. Other berries like blackberries are too sweet. A few blueberries work for me but only a few. Sweeter things and more carbier things have to be measured and weighed . You need to know how many carbs you are eating and how it affects you so that you learn what kind of amounts you can tolerate. It may a bit of a hassle in the beginning but it is worth it. The later on you will be familiar with the amounts you can tolerate.

Re: how many berries ?
I actually pulled out the food scale for the berries as they seemed like something that could easily get out of hand for me. I stick to the 5 net carb rule for each type of berry. Initially added 3 times a week but I've had a week where I had blueberries everyday with no problem.

Re: how many berries ?
Yes, 100 grams is about the most strawberries I eat at one time.
I usually slice them up and add them to some greek yogurt or make strawberry muffins (made with ground linseed or ground almonds).
I even made a strawberry pavlova for a dessert once using splenda instead of sugar to sweeten the meringue!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I adapted the muffin in a minute recipeOriginally posted by jake1970 View Postmmmm strawberry muffins sound nice could you post a link to recipe
I often make them without the sweetener & strawberries but add a pinch of salt to use as bread rolls, or add an ounce of grated cheese to make cheese scones.Strawberry muffin(s)
1 tablespoon melted coconut oil (or butter)
1 egg (our medium eggs are the equivalent of a large egg in USA)
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
4 flat tablespoons of ground linseeds (flax) or ground almonds
2 tablespoons of water (omit if you are using ground almonds)
1 teaspoon of granulated splenda or more if you have a sweet tooth (or equivalent sweetness of Davinci sugarfree syrup)
1 large strawberry cut into small pieces
Mix all together and split between 4 small muffin cases (I use silicone ones) or put it all into a large microwaveable mug
Microwave on high for about 2 minutes, turning the small ones round halfway through, until they are firm to the touch.
You might need another minute if you are making one large 'muffin'You could use soya flour as you are up the OWL ladder far enough, but it tastes yukky to me so I threw out the large bag of soy flour I bought.and could i use soya flour ?I use Lidl's greek yogurt as it is half the price of Fage Total yogurt in other supermarkets.and also the greek yogurt does that have to be a specific brand or type
Most supermarkets sell their own brand of 'strained yogurt' or 'greek style yogurt' tooWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: how many berries ?
This sounds fantastic! I'm going to give this a go today with some almond flour. I'm going to go without the strawberries though as my son at them all up last nightOriginally posted by Elizellen View PostI adapted the muffin in a minute recipe

Re: how many berries ?
I might make 4 mini-muffins with strawberries today as the ones I have in the fridge are close to their use-by date.
That's my excuse anyway!

Re: how many berries ?
I wonder if I could substitute blueberries in this recipe? I still have a ton of berries in the freezer and live walking distance from a berry farm. Three more months and I'll have fresh berries again. Need to find uses for them. I might give that a try this weekend.
