  • Newbie Intro and a Question

Hi everyone. I am a 29 year old gal from Texas. I just started the diet yesterday and am super excited about it. Anyhow down to the question: Being that the diet is high in fat, is it okay to take alli(orlistat) to help block some of the fat from being absorbed? If so, does it help with weight loss? Any and all opinions are much appreciated.

unless you want to be a walking bathroom accident you do not want to take alli while doing atkins.

      NO!

Well, unless you want the side effects ... anal leakage, needing to wear a diaper.

Alii is meant to work with a low fat diet ...

Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (20020?

Welcome to ADBB! A definite huge NO on taking Alli while on Atkins. Hopefully someone will come by giving more scientific reasons on why it is a bad idea.

when you eat low carb the fat you do eat is not stored as fat on your body so its pointless to take alli

I just have to say that I am one of those "people" you will find a story of about developing IBS after using Alli. It worked (in a way) and I never experienced "treatment effects", but I did develop an awful diagnosis of IBS and a polyp in my colon that I had to have lasered. I know TMI but you need to hear that it happens, cause it happened to me. Stay far, far, far, far, far, far, far, did I say far?....away from Alli!!!!!!! Don't listen to Wynona!

            Best Wishes!

Re: Newbie Intro and a Question

Thank You all so much for your replies. Today is my third day and am going crazy with hunger. For breakfast I had 4 fried eggs with 4 strips of bacon, lunch an 8 oz sirloin steak with a small salad that had a cup of iceberg lettuce and less than half of a tomato(only salt and pepper no dressing) and as a snack at about 3 had one serving of peanuts. I have noticed I have been getting crazy hungry right around bed time. I have been drinking anywhere from 90 -100 ozs of water. Does my diet seem okay?

I cannot wait to get my book. I ordered it from Amazon early last week and it still hasn't gotten here. I was suppose to get it and the end of last week and had hoped to read it before starting but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I have been reading as much as possible about low carb diets and have been winging it for the time being. Thank God for wonderful informative sights such as these and all the nice people as well! If it doesn't get here today, I will check Wally World tomorrow if not there then Hastings.

Here's a rule of thumb on what has carbs:

If it doesn't have a face, it has carbs.

Not to mention how much it cost. I almost died when I saw the price.
