  • Learned a new saying today.

I learned a new saying today that I think applies to all of us.

"If it is white, dont bite"

The book I am reading says "Bad" carbs are generally white in color. Think: sugar, white flour, white bread. If you avoid bad carbs you may reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and weight gain.

Good Carbs come from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Eat "good carbs to keep your Cholesterol level healthy, your blood sugar and blood pressure stable and excess pounds off. It is as simple as that.

We all will eventually be able to have "some" good carbs so I thought this was good advice. I think I will tape the saying to my fridge to remind me.
    Mini Goals
    139- Met 2/10/10
    135- Met 2/25/10
    130- Met 3/21/10
    129- So I can say I am in the 120s- Met 3/29/10 128.7lbs yay
    125- 4/20/10 5 to go!
    120 Goal!-

You should be having "some" good carbs now! Atkins is not no-carb, even in Induction.

Dr Oz did that on Oprah to help a group of church folks who almost all had diabetes and were overweight. I think cutting the white carbs is step 1 but as we all know it may not cut cravings and the vicious cycle begins again.

I sometimes tell people I avoid white foods as a shortcut to explain my diet preferences. About now on maintenance it is kind of true - the foods I do not really ever eat are sugar, white flour, rice, potatoes and pasta.
