Is any alcohol allowed? As long as I use diet Coke or Coke Zero for mix?

      Re: Alcohol

Not right away. And then it's a trade off, you will burn the alcohol before you burn fat, so it will delay your weighloss. By how much??? Haven't a clue.

It's stated under the Beverages section in the Acceptable Foods for Induction in Chapter 11 of your book.

            Re: Alcohol

This is something I learned the hard way.

I had two shots of rum with a Diet Coke a few days ago. Rum and Vodka are low in carbs so I thought I was doing great. Normally, such a small amount of alcohol normally has no effect on me. I thought I was giving myself a little treat. But I was SO WRONG.

I become completely drunk and when I got home I passed out on the couch for two hours. I felt like I had been run over by a mack truck. I had no idea this would happen.

I learned that during a low carb diet the body is very low on gluclose and is using the body fat for energy (yeah! woohoo!). But when alcohol is introduced your body sucks up the sugar alcohol like a sponge. I didn't just get buzzed, I got drunk (completely by accident) within the space of 30 minutes. I felt like I was run over with a mack truck.

Everyone, please be careful when you drink. I don't know if this will happen to you but I don't want anyone to suffer like I did.

              Re: Alcohol

This has absolutely happened to me with a very small amount of alcohol. It can take more than 24 hours to stop vomiting and even be able to lift your head. This is not something you want to play around with. Mack Truck is a good analogy.
