  • Indigestion

The last week I have had almost non-stop indigestion. I thought it was from all of the Ibuprofin I take (took) daily for my aches in pain, but I haven't had any for almost five days now and it has not gone away.

It has really hurt my water consumption, because that seems to make the pain worse.

Vegatables in my previous WOE always seemed to cause some type of discomfort. I didn't have any issues for the first ten weeks on Atkin's, so I doubt that that is the issue.

Has anybody else had this challenge? What have you done to allieviate it? Yesterday my Dr prescribed me some Celebrex but I haven't picked it up yet. Not sure that is gonna be the answer.

Thanks & keep up the good work.

    Re: Indigestion

if your stomach was damaged by something it can take along time to heal depending on how damaged it is

if a knife (Ibuprofin) cuts your arm (stomach/intestines) open its going to take longer than 5 days to heal

when my stomach got damaged in the past from my unhealthy diet it took 6 months on atkins for it to heal but i think i could have healed it in half that time if i did not eat things that irritated it but with a damaged stomach everything you eat hurts alittle so it is hard to figure out what irritates it but now that its healthy i know what foods hurt it

what did you start doing before your gut got bad? if your gut was good for months untill you started takeing Ibuprofin then that must be what damaged it

alot of different types of vegetables give me stomach issues theres only a few i can mostly handle fairly good one being broccoli florrets. but i wonder if the only reason i can't handle many different types of vegetables is because so many have GMO makeing them mutants im sure if they were 100% organic i could eat them with less or no problems

    this link should help
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, IBD, IBS, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Celiac, & Candida Diet Program.

    also avoid all
White and black pepper, vinegar, capers, cinnamon, Cornstarch, Corn syrup, Nutmeg, Vanilla , Ketchup, pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, relish Coffee, Distilled liquor, Black Tea and coconut and coconut-containing products
cause they may irritate your gut so avoid them till its better and you can see if there ok for you

foods like meat, eggs, butter, animal organs, are good at healing a damaged gut

      Re: Indigestion

I had it bad for a couple nights last week. Like wake you up bad. But it semed to be the nights I had homemade pico with my dinner. Unfortunately I got slightly carried away with the jalapenos, ok more than slightly, it would take a grown man to his knees LOL But mixed with sour cream it wasn't bad, until later that night.

Now I stick to having it at lunch only, ok since.

        Re: Indigestion

Any chance that it could be from a food that you have added to your diet? ie: Pre-Atkins....foods with white flour give me indigestion, but not the first time I eat it. It ends up being cumulative, and takes about a week. Of course any bite after that is too much. With moving up through the rungs you will have been adding foods. You also mentioned the jalapenos almost taking you to your knees? A good friend of mine can't eat raw tomatoes without pain. Good luck tracking it down.

Ah yes, and Congratulations on dropping more pounds

          Re: Indigestion

celebrex won't stop the indigestion... might make it worse... you need to talk to the doc about the indigestion...

celebrex is for pain... like arthritis type pain... (they gave it to me once for a ankle injury).. but it can cause stomach problems...

just talk to the doctor about the indigestion...

          hopefully he can fix it...

          (my hubby swears by Kapidex)

Thanks for the input Ziggy....That makes a lot of sense.

My doc swithed me to the Celebrex because the NSAID's that I've been taking for arthritis pain were not working. He said that it would be gentler on my stomach and that I should also take some Xantac or something ( I'm gonna go with Pepcid, since I have had good results with it previously). If this regiment doesn't work out, I'll have to investigate Kapidex. Thanks!

              Re: Indigestion

Ulcers are not nice, and no doubt are the result of the meds you've had to take for ongoing arthritis. Its a balancing act. My hubby's found aloe vera gel (not the juice! it has to be gel) will help to heal the stomach and soothe the burn. So will myrrh.

Best of luck in your search : )

                Re: Indigestion

I would talk to your doctor about this if it's ongoing, especially in relation to any medication you are taking. Also make sure you take Celebrex with food.

I second the above to really visit what foods you are eating and see if there's something that's causing aggravation.

                  Re: Indigestion

I'm still struggling with this problem. Although it has gotten better by taking Zantac every morning and the Celebrex w/breakfast, it has not gone away.

The worst part is that it has caused me to reduce my water intake considerably. I'm only able to choke down about a quart a day, because water seems to make the indigestion worse.

In turn, my weight loss has come to a screeching halt...
