  • Yay for me!!!

Started 2/1/10 I have lost 30.2 pounds! I feel great and am so proud of myself. I just wanted to celebrate here because I don't tell anyone I know in person how much I have lost.

Just curious how come you don't tell people how much you lost? When people ask me I tell them.

              Re: Yay for me!!!

              Well I have a few reasons I don't tell

              1) Because the next question is always "how?" and then there is the whole is Atkins safe debate. If I just smile and say "yes, I have lost some weight" the conversation kinda ends.

              2) I have a sister that is overly competative and has "night mares" about becoming the fat sister. She calls around to everyone we both know to ask if they know how much I have lost. I don't want to put anyone in the position of having to lie for me so I just don't tell anyone.

3)When I reach my goal weight I don't want people to be able to add the amount I lost to the amount I weigh and find out just how heavy I was.

@DIDI-M, I completely understand what you mean. I have a facebook page and none of my friends know that I am even dieting. I post nothing about it and have told no one. The only thing different with you and me, however, is that when I do reach my goal weight I will share how much I have lost. I am not so sure on the actual "weight". You should be proud Everyone here is proud of you! If your sister is that competitive... why not challenge her? lol jk!

                        Re: Yay for me!!!

Hmmm, I see your situation. I don't have any siblings but I am usually the largest friend, although I was never overweight for very long. But most of my friends were blessed to be on the very skinny side so in photos I looked larger than I was.

If I tell people how much I lost they usually tell me I look like I lost more than that.
                        it's nice to hear.

No one argues with me anymore about the Atkins debate, because they see it works and they see I eat a lot of veggies. I have a one co worker that calls me a rabbit because I eat rabbit food all the time. If anyone has their concerns they have not raised their concerns.

                              Re: Yay for me!!!

                              Thank you everyone!

I am the biggest in my group of friends too (most of them are marathoners). We moved to this area when I was pregnant with my first kid. So, none of my friends here have seen me thin, and none of my friends back home have seen me fat.

I have thought of a "friendly" competition with my sister but have decided it is funner to keep her in the dark...That way each time I see her (about every 2 or 3 months) she will just be shocked.

One other reason I don't want to tell people how much I have lost is because I carry my weight pretty well. Even my Doctor was just sure the scale was not callebrated correctly and made me get weighed on a different one....kinda embarrassing.
