I am planning to run my first half marathon and I'm wondering what kind of carbs should I eat to keep me "RUNNING"... I'm worried that I won't have enough strength to finish the race if I don't eat enough carb... don't want to change my WOE tho...I'm on extended induction...is gatorade legal on Marathon day?

Re: Running and carb question
Most lowcarbers will have their fat burning going fine to do exercise like that. I do not race but I run (did 9 miles yesterday) and all I ate were a couple of nuts. The marathoners we have had on the board like Julie and Betty and others all ran without carb loading. Because their bodies had no problem dealing with it. How does your body feel with a long run?
I think you could move up the carb ladder a bit though. Your weightloss is going well and you need to try more carb foods and more carbs.
Here are some old threads on exercising and Atkins that may help you

Re: Running and carb question
I agree with Liv - as you have not got lots of weight to lose as well as intending to exercise a lot you would be better to move to OWL so you can increase your carbs and add more variety of foods to be getting more nutrition.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Running and carb question
Thanks for the links Liv...to be honest, I do feel fine during my runs (long/HIIT) But just like what buster404 feels, I can't seem to get over the fact that I should eat more carbs when running....good thing you guys are here to give advice and support....
Thank you elizellen...you just reminded me that I need to join that veggie challenge soon coz I keep on forgetting to eat my veggies. I'll be moving on to OWL soon.....
