  • Sugar Slip Up = Sugar Cravings BEWARE!!!

Staying away from sugar on this diet is really helping me with my sugar/carb addiction!!!

I had one accidental sugar intake yesterday, which made me so worried about what was going to happen to my weight loss! I was at a seminar that had ice blue mint candies at all the tables. I asked if they were sugar free and one of the hotel employees said they were. I asked her where they ordered from and then looked it up at the website. It took some research but I finally found out late last night THEY WERE NOT SUGAR FREE

I had around 9 of them throughout the day...so after finding the candies and their nutrition label, I had 60 carbs yesterday, just with those stupid candies. I should not have trusted the person, but I figured they wouldn't set out sugary stuff at a health seminar!

VERY INTERESTING and something I have heard in the books and other articles: Sugar intake causes desire for more...at least with addictive personalities? Because that is not the case for my hubby.
I got cravings for sugar later in the evening....which is something I had not experienced this whole week!!!I did not give in to them, though!!! I instead had a sparkling water drink flavored with sugar free syrup and no carbs. That hit the spot.

I also learned my lesson: If in doubt and can't read the actual nutrition label, don't eat it. Don't trust it without the label!

Not everyone thinks that sugar isn't healthy!

The best thing to do in a situation like that is to simply not have it in the first place.

Here's something to think about ... the sugar free syrup can also trigger cravings ... the best way to eliminate cravings isn't "feeding'' them.

I've also found it best to avoid all things like that, even if they say "sugar free". You never know for sure what kind of ingredients are in them. I've even cut down on artificial sweeteners because they do cause cravings for me. I can't have "just one" very well so not starting at all is best. Going cold turkey on most any thing sweet has really curbed the cravings for me.

I've had many "lessons learned" like you just had. Good for you for recognizing it and researching and tracking the extra carbs you just had. But do be careful of the "sugar free" syrups etc. They may be "feeding the beast" as well.
