Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

First Of All I am not complaining. To me we are all on the same team. Is there some rule that you can not be on more than one board?

This is what I said " What is cool is that to do Atkins you don't even have to buy a book. They offer all the information for free and have lessons and tools to help you get going and lose weight.

That to me is one of the best things over any other plan to lose weight. No one else is free. You have to pay for a website, or book, or food. Not on Atkins.

They have recently updated everything on the Atkins website and are adding more and more things.

There is no substitute for reading ALL the books but the website is a great start and can help you change your life. I think on Atkins there is a natural progression to want to learn more
    ."

My point was just that with every other plan out there, You HAVE to buy the information or the food. Subscribe to a plan and on Atkins you do not. You don't even need to go to their website. There are plenty of places including here to get it.

I am not promoting the other site. I saw it mentioned in the thread before I mentioned.

Atkinsgal I do get it. I just think the plan is so much more than green beans missing from the list.
I know how the plan works and am nearly at goal! I have ALL the books. I have read them all and love them ALL. I think there is something in each of them. 2002 DANDR can not be beat for its science information. I think people should read them ALL.

I am not posting anything contrary to DANDR.

Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

Baylor, the bottom line is this -

This board is based upon 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. It is not an Atkins free-for-all... it is specific. It has an owner, and the board was created specifically to support 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. Unless Tom informs me otherwise, I do not see the point of pointing people to the atkins.com website for information that can be found here.

And Mitzi, I completely understand that. I am not sure where I have stepped over the line. Some one asked me a question and I answered it. I am not pushing people towards the website, It was mentioned before I mentioned it.

at this link one of the comments are

The only truth is that carbohydrates are high in calories. If you overdo carbohydrates you will put on weight. Weight loss and gain is about calories in / calories out, always has been, always will be.

            what a terribly annoying comment!

personally i think calories in calories out are more like at the bottom of the list for fat loss

1st i think counting carbohydrates best effect

2nd working all your muscles on your body thus draining there glucose

3rd eating healthy food like organic grass fed beef liver

4rd being active and keeping your metabolism fast

            5th calorie intake

but combinding them all is best effect but still calorie intake is 5th place

Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

I just went back to reread and there is a lot of talk about the website before I mentioned it.

Ziggy I agree with your comment about calories in/calories out. It was the most frustrating time of my life when I tried to lose weight but working out enough to burn what I ate. Never managed it. Now I eat more and lose more!

Except for the stuff they didn't update and is still WRONG.

So what about the new person who isn't ... is it OK from them to have partially wrong information?

According to you, it is "fine".

                  That's what you're not "getting".

                    Really J. I am not.

I know there are some mistakes. It bothers me but what can I do about it? I am not going to focus on the few little things that are not quite right. I am going to focus on the big picture. The good things.

I just don't think there is anything earth shattering that is going to ruin someones chances to make a good Atkins life.

Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

Then do you see what's wrong with your statement:

"They offer all the information ... "

The website in it's current state simply doesn't offer ALL the information. Yes, it's free ... but it's not ALL.

That's why you need the book.

I never said that people should not have the book. I think you have missed my point. I am not comparing websites. I am saying that in all the plans out there, Nutrisystem, WW, SouthBeach, JennyCraig, You have to join and pay dues or for food.

With Atkins you do not. That is all.

No ... you just said people don't need it because "all" they need is on the Atkins website.

We've already established that "all" is not there.

                              Baylor,

You wrote several times at atkins.com that ADBB is a "pseudo Atkins forum". In a discussion about ADBB, you wrote that all the pseudo Atkins forums you checked out are not "as good as this one [the forum at Atkins.com]."

To add to it, you are currently the most popular poster at atkins.com (and don't blush, it's not a compliment). You support everything that atkins.com/ANI is doing. If today we weigh vegetables, you write that people should weigh vegetables to "get an accurate count". If tomorrow the wind blows the other way and the new book talks about cups, you automatically change your mind and think (do you actually think?) cups are the way to go.

You act like Marketing's little atkins.com/ANI advertising machine. Heck, they should pay you for it! In bars and shakes... we know you L.O.V.E. those.

So why are you here Baylor? Why are almost all your posts either about atkins.com or about the new book? Are you trying to enlighten us by promoting what you consider to be a superior source of information (atkins.com) on a "pseudo Atkins forum" (ADBB)?

PS: Everyone interested can look up Baylor's posts on google.

Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

Is there a way to post a thread EVERYDAY on atkins.com to get them to fix the incorrect information. If a person is there everyday they could possible gain enough attention on that board to get things corrected. I know that if I had followed only the website back in 2004 I would have failed miserably. Only when I bought the 2002 book did I understand why I was eating what I was eating and had it with me anywhere. But the thing that gets me is that website blatantly ignoring the errors on the website. It's very frustrating to think that people will go there and look at the meal plans and eat them when they aren't even for the phase they are supposed to be on and when they fail they will blame ATKINS not realizing it was errors. I hope someone fixes it. I really do.
