Re: Atkins for over 6 months?

I just celebrated my 1st Atkins anniversary, and I'm still going strong. I honestly don't even miss pre-Atkins food; I just had some strange societal connection to those foods that were killing me (probably just like most people). Atkins has been a breath of fresh air for my health.

1st time = 2.5 years but I wasn't doing it quite right (not counting carbs, cheating, etc.) Lost 125 lbs though.

        Regained 80+ of it back.

This time: 1 year, 3 months. I'm doing it right this time, have relost 70 lbs of that 80 gained and am not stopping!

I'm doing this for life. There is no "going off Atkins". Once you realize that, it makes it tons easier. You will not go back to eating how you did before, that's what got you where you were. I'm much happier eating this way with all the rich wonderful foods. I do not miss the old foods the longer I do this correctly.
        Start date: 2/22/04 347/222/135 ~ 5'2"

        Goal #1: 247 - 2nd 10% (59lbs, 247, also 100 lbs total loss) - Met 1/4/10!!!
        Goal #2: 241 - Halfway to goal! (106 lbs lost) - Met 2/21/10!!!

        Goal #3: 222 - 3rd 10% - Lowest Atkins weight
        Goal #4: 210 - Still on track!
        Goal #5: 200/199 - 4th 10% - One-derland! End year goal!
Female/Hypothyroidism/Arthritis/Fibromyalgia - If I can lose weight on this, so can you!

Re: Atkins for over 6 months?

Way back in the day (2003), I went from 250 to 180 over the span of around nine months. Then I went off plan, and eventually gained most of it back. I started again in mid-September of 2009 at 235, and am now down to 199. I've been back at it for around six months, and I know now that this is my lifestyle, not a diet.

I will ONLY weigh once per week! I will refer to DANDR 2002 and this forum when I have questions. I will revel in new recipes, new clothes, and the new feeling of being happy in my skin. I will hold myself accountable to do this the right way, without excuses, because I know that Atkins is the best thing for my health and happiness. I. Will. Succeed!

Re: Atkins for over 6 months?

I started May 2009, Memorial day at 228 lbs. I remember being worried since it's a bar-b-que holiday. But we had cheeseburgers & salad. I remember thinking how easy it was!

By September I was around 191. 37 lbs lost. I was stuck at 188/187 for a couple of months, now I've dipped to 179, but stick mostly to 181 for a few weeks. A total of around 47 lbs lost in 10 months.

Occasionally I eat foods I shouldn't, but I'm very conscious of how many carbs are in it & try to drink lots of water to flush my system. I'm hoping that slow & easy will help KEEP the weight off. I just figured out that I've lost about 21% of my body weight. I'm still considered obese, by 7 lbs. When I lose it I'll just be overweight :/ . But when I feel stressed about losing weight I try to remind myself how far I have come & yeah, it lifts my spirits back up some!! Focus on the good!!

Re: Atkins for over 6 months?

                    6 years about now

i lost 100 pounds first year then nothing much happend i still did not look that good then around 3rd year i started going to the gym and lost another 50 pounds of fat and gained 50-60 pounds of muscle so total 150 pounds fat loss and 60 pounds muscle gain and now look really good

so make sure you exercise too! just walking won't cut it thats what i mostly only did for the first year and i still looked crappy so you gotta work every muscle on your body really it doesn't have to be hard just doing something with a muscle you never use will greatly help

also its very easy for me to stick to this WOL cause everytime i go off it i get sick xD
