I have been on Atkins for the last 4 weeks. I noticed the first two weeks I lost 15 pounds, but within the last 2 weeks I have only lost 3 pounds combined. I wondered if somehow I slipped out of ketosis. I bought some test strips today, and sure enough they register nothing. For the first two weeks I drank nothing but water. I decided to add some flavored sparkling water, and some sugar free drink mixes I got from walmart and target. So I'm guessing it was the aspartame that threw me off. I read where it could be an issue. Anyone else have this trouble? How long will it take me to get back in ketosis now?

Re: Aspartame
The strips aren't reliable. You might still be in ketosis, just not spilling any excess ketones.
You're not going to lose at the same rate you lose the first week or two.
You know there's a limit of 3 servings of sweetener per day, right?J.

Re: Aspartame
Gray, your doing fine and don't go by those strips as any indication of anything. The first two weeks we lose water weight and usually about 10 percent of what we want to lose, So If you want to lose 150 pounds, your right on track, If you need to lose less, your better than on track. From then on, we start to lose about 1 to 2 pounds a week. Again, your right on track. This isn't a weight loss quick diet, its a WOE that helps in weight loss.
Keep up the good work

Re: Aspartame
yep what thery said.
some folk have issues with sodas any artifically sweetened sodas.
there was a bad science study that claimed aspartame in sodas caused stalls that the atkins site used to cite, but when attempts to peer review and duplicate it were done it was discovered incorrect conclusions were drawn. seems they failed to isolate the other possible stalling factors in the sodasby the book atkinseer
