Cant lose weight

    You could add some strips of red peppers with some kind of fat-filled dip a snacks instead of those slim jims etc, or celery sticks stuffed with paté or cream cheese.
    Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

    F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )

      I thought atkins said I can eat as much as i want, I am a big boy im 6'4 295, and back in HS i was around 240 when i played sports...so yes i have gained weight, but back in HS i would eat the same portions i do now.....so whats wrong with eating a fat steak with asparagus and a salad.

      Also, if i need to replace meat with fat....what type of of fat/food would suffice?

        ive seen other posts on other forums, a woman talking about eatin 3 pork chops and a cup of spinach for dinner, just eatin tons of meat...but still loosing weight....if a smaller woman could eat like this...cant I?

          But you're not in HS are you?

          You're supposed to eat until you're "satisfied", not "stuffed".

          Why not eat 1/2 the pound steak, the vegetables ... wait 20 minutes and then if you're still HUNGRY, eat some more.

            Well, I think 3 pork chops (depending on the size) is about 2 too many.

            Atkins isn't about eating tons of meat.

              operative words being "but still loosing [sic] weight"

              You have been stalled and this woman apparently hasn't. You can't compare yourself to what others eat. The best way to go about it is to go by the book, and the book says: "eat until you are full, not stuffed."

                ok, so what type of fats/foods should i be adding to my diet, to replace the excessive meat i have been eating?

                if someone could give me a typical day of meals, or a few examples...that would be great...

                    There's the rub ... what any of us eat isn't relevant.

                    We all like different things.

                    It's better for YOU to deal with YOUR menu.

                    Induction is pretty simple (even though it's also complicated) ... you get MOST of your net carbs from Induction vegetables (make them the star of your meals), then you eat some meat, have some of the other foods, and drink lots of water.

                      not as much as we want as much as we need to satisfy our hunger.

                      There is nothing wrong with eating a fat steak with asperagus and salad if you are measuring the amount if veggies to stay within your Atkins induction leimits if you are on induction and if you are on OWL staying within your daily carb limit.

                      the issue is Atkins is a high fat eating plan so we need to have fats with our asperagus and our salad and not have a lean piece of steak.

                      then the amount we eat is supposed to be the amount we need to satisfy our hunger and stop eating once that hunger is satisfied even if we have legal foods on our plate room in our elly and carbs in our budget.

                      Anoither issue is you are not playing the sports you did in HS are you? so your food cal intake should be smaller to not gain weight as we need to make sure our caloric expendatures from all sources is greater then out caloric intake to lose weight, Dr Atkins talks about that in the Q and A of chapter 11 of DANDR 2002


                      all you need to do is add some healthy fat to your meal which would decrease the total amount of beef you were having with that meal. you could add some butter to your veggies, eat the fat on the steak, add a full fat dressing to your salads, cook your steak with an herb butter or bleu cheese rub

                        if you were hungry and it took 3 chops to satisfy your hunger for that meal then it would be fine.

                        if one just ate 3 chops cause one saw it written elsewhere then it would be wrong.

                          that goes back to what i was saying before tho, I do eat alot, but i never gorge or stuff myself, I always eat what fills me, and I am a big guy, i ate like this in HS when i was active and I eat the same way...yes i should exercise more...yes i shouldnt take in as many calories...but like you and Atkins says...eat so you are satisfied....i never stuff myself....but if i eat dinner...ill usually have two chicken breasts...2-3 pork chops.....a pound of fish.....maybe half a pound of shrimp and half a pound of scallops together...or a big steak....i dont stuff myself....i am actually hungry during the day....I dont eat as much as i normally do...since startin atkins

                            you are hungry because you are eating your ttoal fat intake too low.

                            think of it like this. I could buy hamberger meat as 75% lean all the way to 93% in my stores. If I ate a 1/2 pound burger I'd consume the same total amount of food BUT the amount of protein would be higher in the 93% lean and the amount of fat would be higher in the 75% lean one.

                            the higher fat burger would satisfy my hunger longer then the 93% lean one beacuse the fats in our diet help us be in Atkins ketosis and fuel us without causing blood sugar swings.

                            Protein as an energy source is glucose based which gives you a raise in blood sugars a release of insulin and then a drop in blood sugar levels causing the body to holler I'm hungry.

                            if you ate a fatty cut of meat as your dinner steak you would have kless total protein and more fats for the same sized steak. understand?

                              gotcha...so basically i should stop buyin the porterhouse and start buyin the chuck steaks?....

                              any other tips on simple ways to include fat in my diet?

                              maybe some fatty snacks?

                                skin on chicken, cold water fatty fish or a home made tartar sauce of dill pickel relish ( sugar free of course) and some mayo, hot wings the wings and the butter hotsauce combo would be very high fat.

                                induction snacks can be some of your daily cheese limited to 4 ounces, a bacon wrapped veggie or chicken chunk, veggies dipped in a creamcheese or oil based dipping sauce.

                                when you get to OWl rung 3 you can add nuts/seeds for snacks
