Re: Record on Egg Eating
GAG! I am so happy you guys have something so cheap and so good for you that you can eat like that. I can barely force eggs down my throat. I gag after a few bites. The only way I like eggs is with creamy cheese sauce and mushrooms. I used to get them at Shoneys like that. I might figure out how to duplicate that somehow. The eggs have to be scrambled soft.

Re: Record on Egg Eating
Yesterday, on the AOL website, they had an article (amazingly parroting Atkins) about the myths of the health hazards of eating eggs and that eggs might be the worlds most perfect food!
Woo Hoo!
There was a comment about an apparent problem with scrambled eggs destroying part of the food. I'll have to get back on it. (Couldn't pull up yesterday's article, sorry!)

Re: Record on Egg Eating
Remember that eggs do have 'some' carbs (a bit less than 1/2 per large egg) so you do need to count them to make sure you are still getting most of your net carbs from your veggies rather than from your eggs, cheese, cream, sweeteners etc
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I saw that too, I was going to post it, but the person who wrote the article had no credentials or degrees after his name...LOL , and I didn't seem to see any references as to where his information came from. So since it lacked any references to studies, sources, etc, I decided not to post it. (Not that I disagree with what the article said, but I felt the article had nothing to back it up).259/206/149

Re: Record on Egg Eating
Ok, found the link...like I said, I don't see anything to reference where his information is from in the article.
Who is this Jonny? I linked over to his website, says he is Dr. Jonny Bowden, Best Selling Author, Speaker, Nutritionist, and Weight Loss Coach.
Dr. Jonny Bowden, Ph.D, CNS, Board Certified Nutrition Specialist, MA Psychology, ACSM, ACE, NSCA, American Society for Nutrition, American College Nutrition.
Oh, and his website, he sells LOTS of things.
Again, I am not saying this article is right or wrong...just posting since you brought it up.
The Poor Misunderstood Egg - That's Fit
Text from article:
"Let me be perfectly clear: Eggs are one of the most perfect foods on the planet.
And -- wait for it -- that includes the yolk.
Yup, the yolk -- that poor, misunderstood, but essential component of the egg that too often gets thrown out in a misguided attempt to avoid cholesterol and fat. So let's clear a few things up about eggs, cholesterol, fat and health.
Number One: The cholesterol in eggs has virtually no effect on the cholesterol in your blood.
Number Two: The fat in the egg yolk is mostly monounsaturated fat, the same kind found in olive oil. Yes, you heard that right. Of the 5.3 grams of total fat in one large egg, only 1.6 grams are saturated.
Number Three: Many of the nutrients that make eggs so incredibly healthy are found in the yolk. Examples: Lutein and zeaxanthin, two members of the carotenoid family that are beneficial for eye health. The yolk also contains choline, which is important for brain health -- and vitamin D.
The idea that eating eggs is bad for your heart is a myth. No study has linked egg eating to greater risk of heart disease. In fact, quite the opposite. According to an article from Harvard Health (a publication of Harvard Medical School), "The only large study to look at the impact of egg consumption on heart disease ... found no connection between the two."
Research has also shown that eggs eaten at the start of the day can reduce your daily calorie intake, prevent snacking between meals and keep you satisfied.
However, not all eggs are created equal. Stay away from scrambled eggs at open buffets. While the cholesterol in eggs poses no real harm to you, when that cholesterol is "scrambled" and then exposed to air and oxygen for a long time (like on an open buffet), it becomes damaged. That's not something you really want in your body. Better to poach, soft or hard boil. If you do scramble eggs, eat them quickly and don't let them sit around all day long."259/206/149

Re: Record on Egg Eating
Not to worry. He is referring to eggs sitting out in the open at buffets for an extended period of time, not scrambling at home.Originally posted by thefemalegreenday View PostNooooooooooooooo =( I love scrambled eggs.
So unless you eat scrambled eggs at a buffet every day, I don't think there is big cause for alarm:

Re: Record on Egg Eating
I never choose the 'scrambled egg' option even at a restaurant as I can never be convinced they are using only fresh eggs to make them and not adding all sorts of stuff like milk, batter etc.Originally posted by mission to lose View PostNot to worry. There was a thread about restaurant eggs a few months ago. And in most restaurants, especially national chains, scrambled eggs come from a processed bag of powdered eggs that is rehydrated to make "scrambled eggs". It is best to order such as "over well" to assure you are getting real, pure eggs.259/206/149
