I was trying to stay in the induction longer because I want to lose over 100lbs, but the last few weeks I have barely lost anything. I have never read the book, just watch what I eat. I have been at this for 2 months and have lost 20lbs, but I feel like I have slowed down if not stopped all together.

Anyone got some pointers so I stay on track and don't give up???

How many pounds did you hope to lose when you started induction and how much did you lose over the first 2 weeks? This info will help you discover your metabolic resistance to weight loss.

If you did not show high resistance to weightloss there is probably no need to stay on induction, and moving to OWL might restart your losing journey.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Re: Stuck

Really really truly read the book. It really helps to understand why this works and how and how to do each phase properly.

Next, post your menu for review either here or in the Menu Review forum. When I started out the first time, I found out I was not doing things correctly many times. Folks here offered advice on how to improve my menu and get things going. Are you tracking what you are eating in something like Fitday so that you know your percentage of fat and how many net carbs you are eating? Have you considered moving into OWL?

Also, be sure to measure. Many times, you may be losing inches instead of pounds on the scale.

Dr. Atkins also addresses what to do if you think your weight loss is stalled. He defines a stall as "no weight or inches lost for 4 weeks".

Also, your weight loss might only be 1-2 lbs a week, if that. How much have you been losing each week?

This is not something you can just kinda guess on how to do it. I tried that the first time too and because I wasn't doing it right, fell of the wagon when my weight loss stalled (which was because I was cheating and eating the wrong things). Now, I do it strictly by the book and the weight keeps going down. Not always as fast as I'd like, but it's going!
      Start date: 2/22/04 347/222/135 ~ 5'2"
      STAC Restart: 1/05/09
      306/229/135 ~ 5'2" 77 lbs down!

      Goal #1: 247 - 2nd 10% (59lbs, 247, also 100 lbs total loss) - Met 1/4/10!!!
      Goal #2: 241 - Halfway to goal! (106 lbs lost) - Met 2/21/10!!!

      Goal #3: 222 - 3rd 10% - Lowest Atkins weight
      Goal #4: 210 - Still on track!
      Goal #5: 200/199 - 4th 10% - One-derland! End year goal!
Female/Hypothyroidism/Arthritis/Fibromyalgia - If I can lose weight on this, so can you!

        >>I have never read the book,>>

        Read the book.

It's impossible to "do" Atkins without knowing what you're doing.

there can be lots of reasons why your weight loss stopped after the inital 14 days loss.
it is very normal to have a scale weight loss hesitation period after the inital weight loss on any plan. have you measured to see the inches of body fat being shed?

reaons one you could be deficient in several of the vits and minerals needed to make the body run smoothly which will cause metabolism to slow down. Have you looked at something like the free fitday.com online to see if you are missing any vits and/or minerals based on your food choices and supplements?

reason 2 you could be adding lean body mass from all the protein in the atkins diet and exercise you are doing which is masking your body fat loss. tape measure should show you that loss though.

reason 3 you are over eating your atkins. are you feeding your hunger and stopping even if you have legal food on your plate room in your belly and carbs in your budget? too many superheavyweights over eat their atkins cause they lost in induction eating large amounts of food and they continue overeating until weight loss stops thinking their atkins stopped working. As we grow smaller our body needs less fuel to do the exact same thing so either we cut back the food intake or we increase the energy expenditure in our daily life with more intense exercise and more moving around.

reason 4 you are eaitng a food that you are having fluid retention issue with know as an intolerance. have you added any new to your atkins foods to your eating?

reason 5 you have a medical issue slowing your metabolism. if your scales haven't moved in 4 weels and you are not losing inches neither Dr Atkins says if you don't have carb creep nor a change in your activities you should get tested to see if you have a medical reason like hypothyroid. DANDR chapter 15.

there are many more reasons why it might stop but you'd need to post about what you are and are not eating and dooing.

are you eating something illegal? like whole wheat? it doesnt matter if the net carbs are low if its illegal it can still spike blood sugar and stall weight loss
