    True! But knowing her for 8 years now she usually does not eat sweets. She has a balanced diet when she does eat. I don't agree with her eating once a day. She will go hours and not eat until dinner. How is that more healthy than my balanced diet, I don't know?

    What's funny is people at work are noticing a I eat, a lot and ask how I am losing still...Something to think about

      The funny thing is that she probably goes into ketosis during the day anyway, since she's not eating during the entire day. Also doesn't pretty much everyone go into ketosis while asleep?

        Tell her not eating enough and being anorexic can cause multiple problems with her body maybe even kill her. Ask me how I know.

        Tell her by not eating enough it causes your body to lose vital nutrients and electolytes that can cause arrythmias and even heart attack. Starving the body of food also causes the body to basically eat its self. It starts with major muscle mass and works it way to your vital organs. Some of the damage can't be reversed ever. It may not happen over night but by starving yourself it will happen the body can only cope so long while being abused.

        Sorry this is a sensitve subject close to my heart

          Another problem with not eating enough, especially when empty carbs take up a large part of the diet, the metabolism goes into starvation mode and when you do get a decent meal more of it is stored as fat, to prevent you from starving.

          I used to work at a county health department. Try dealing with a whole office of nurses, nures aids and welfare councelors. Man, it is none stop. "your body can't survive without carbs" Funny, we did fine when all we ate was meat 8 months out of the year and then picked fruits nuts and berries when they were in season.

          DANDR goes into length about the fact that there are 2 sources of energy for the animals, carbs or ketones (actually there are three, alcohols). The reference Dr. Atkins used was bears. When they are awake and eating it is a combination of carbs and ketones, depends on what is available to eat. When the bear hybernates, its ketones. After all, that is the purpose of fat, to provide us with nurishment when external food stores are scarce.

            Ask her to share with you a peer reviewed medicals study that shows atkins eating is dangerous cause you would like to educate yourself about those dangers.

            She will never find one so any time she bothers to tell you your eating is dangerous ask her for that study she was going to bring you.

            Another thing you can do to hush her up is ask her did you know Atkins phase one folk eat 4-6 servings of veggies a day and the first thing we add back is additional servings of veggies? The USDA says we only need 3-5 serivngs a day so I eat way more veggies then the USDA minimum.

            Another thing you could ask her is did you know every human on earth is in the same ketosis state I'm in when they wake up after getting their 8 hours of sleep? It can't be dangerous if it is the normal condition of humans.

            between those two items she should never bother you again about unhealthy atkins.

            oh and you might want to be czreful about visiting wetbanana's site as it says Atkins folk danage kidneys and increase cholesertol in the part copied here. BOth of which we know are nonatkins ssiues

              You guys had great responses, I hope she does not bring it up tonight at her party.

              I will be consuming alcohol tonight with her and a bunch of friends. So I hope I don't drink much where I stall for too long because I finally just got down to wear i was 10 days ago. But I waited 10 days, I can wait a couple more.

              I am happy right now where I am at. I was able to fit into a couple size 4's (although they were probably big 4's). I was never able to wear a size 4 before until now. It's a great feeling.

              And I will not consume low carb beer- it gives me cravings.

              Again, thank you guys for responding. There were a lot of things I did not know.

                take some atkins friendly snacks with you so when that alcohol hits you will not make bad food choices.

                Alcohol only delays ketosis as the ketones are still there in your body they are just not being selected as a fuel until the alcohol you consume is burned off so be sure you drink lots of water to avoid the dehydration headache many get the next morning and keep the cals in your drink down so you are back in atkins ketosis fueling by lunch tomorrow.

                  a person who is brainwashed will more likely mess up on something agree?

                  think of how many people have been brainwashed about saturated fats? so many doctors in past have sent people to there deaths with this lie

                  but tell your freind this ''correct the wise man and the wise man becomes wiser'' and also tell her satan controls all the nations of the world. and hopefully after she hears this she will accept that her RN and CRNA medical training could possibley be corrupt and wrong and will be willing to accept what you say even though your not a '' Doctor ''

                    So last night was good. I couldn't remember if I should drink vokda tonic or club soda so I ordered a tonic and I thought that was wrong and it had carbs. So I did have a piece of angel food cake, the birthday cake of the evening. I'm ok with it. I did it by will and no one forced me. It had strawberries and I ate those too.

                    Since I couldn't remember tonic or club soda I stuck with rum and diet all night. Aspartame does stall me but I made the decision to stick with it knowing I was not going to consume anymore carbs. I'd rather stall on aspartame. I had about 40 ounces of water while drinking last night too.

                    We cabbed it home and my girlfriends ate chips and dip and tried excessively for me to eat it. I didn't want it. Luckily the cake did not give me cravings and it was a nice treat. So the girls gorged on chips and dip. I asked if there was celery with the dip and there was none in the house. So I went to sleep.

                    All in all last night was a success for me. I did show trace ketones this morning but I know that does not mean anything. And ate eggs bacon and tomatoes for breakfast.

                    Back on track today and feeling great!

                        You didn't go off on a huge carb binge and you got right back on plan so it sounds like a sucess to me.

                            Ok I am showing very dark on the stix and that is not normal for me. I am trying to keep up with the water and the urine was diluted. Is it possible I still have alcohol being burned 16 hours after my last alcoholic beverage?

                              Exactly. I've found that "healthy," is a relative term, that varies among many people. There isn't just one right way to eat, but it would be nice if others understood what's best for them isn't best for someone else. For me, the Atkins way of life is the best because it's healthy and works for me. For others, it may be another eating plan.

                                I'd just ask her to do her research... I wouldn't even TRY to explain it to her... I'd say something like...

                                'look into the difference between ketosis and ketoacidosis... then get back to me'

                                the best defense is don't even try to explain it.... imo... because you'll never win with people who already have their mind made up
