...in Green Tea & Coconut Oil.

I've been faithfully drinking Decaf Green Tea in the evenings, (I'm a camel when it comes to water, so by then, I've had about 128oz. of water or so for the day, I LOVE it, always have), also adding Coconut Oil to my daily diet 2 weeks ago, and in the past 10 days I've lost 8#. This puts my total weight loss since Feb. 7th at 23#....not as good as some have done here, but I'll take it. :joy

I have changed nothing else, in fact, I've unfortunately exercised LESS in the past 2 weeks due to a pulled hamstring and a very badly sprained ankle. My weight had been not exactly 'stalled', but 'slagging' for the past month, losing a pound, then gaining it back, lose/gain, well you know the routine. I have to believe that the Tea & Coconut Oil combination have given me that edge, although I'm sure my weight loss won't stay at this pace forever.

BTW, for those of you who can't stomach the taste of the Green Tea, try mixing a bag with a bag of Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger. I boil enough water in my kettle for exactly 2 cups of Tea which works out perfectly with the 1 to 1 ratio of Tea bags, plus, it forces me then to drink TWO cups of tea instead of just the one.

I made some fudge with the Coconut Oil and eat it daily, along with sauteeing my veggies in it, frying my eggs in it and using it as a spread on low-carb muffins for breakfast. The idea for weight loss is to consume 3T. of CO daily, I fall short of that some days but I come close. It's also wonderful for your skin, my feet have been basking in a daily slathering of it with socks and they're all cutesie and ready for my pretty summer sandals!

More importantly to me than the weight loss is that I FEEL FANTASTIC!

Previously being extremely hypoglycemic, that's a miracle in itself. :icondance

From WebMD: Coconut Oil: Diet Miracle or Fad?
Is it possible to add fat to your diet and lose weight? Yes, if it's the right fat, says naturopath Bruce Fife, ND, author of Eat Fat Look Thin. He recommends adding coconut oil and substituting it for polyunsaturated oils to suppress appetite, boost metabolism, and bring about weight loss.

I don't know why, ciaobella, sorry....but Oatmeal Cookies are the same for me and have been as long ago as I can remember, including childhood. I love the taste of them, and the smell, but feed me one and then quickly pass the trash can for me to puke. INSTANT sickness, and I'm not sure why.

Our bodies/systems are strange, to say the least. ensive

From your stats I can see that you have reached your goal
weight, did you have any problems losing the last 7 lbs at all?

Can you recommend anything to assist?

On the green tea subject.... does it have to be decaffinated? Or can we drink it unadulterated?

I drink regular as I haven't found decaf around here.

                      Hi Sally .. :wave

Actually, the last 5 pounds came off easily when I continued to increase my exercise and totally eliminated ALL junk lc foods....

                      My best advice would be:

Eat whole unprocessed foods, don't buy into the net impact carb debacle, keep tabs on your calories .. (eat enough to keep your body from going into starvation mode, but not more than you need after factoring in your exercise!), take your supplements, combine strength training and cardio into your exercise plan (minimum 4-5 days a week) and avoid all artificial sweeteners ..

Sorry if that's too much information! I get a bit passionate about Atkins and exercise, can you tell? :guns

                      Hope that helps!

I'm down 2 more pounds this morning, YES! I won't be foolish enough to attribute all of my weight loss with the Coconut Oil or Green Tea, obviously....but I know that it has helped, for a fact.

What it helps with is the "budge", you know, when you can't seem to get the scales to budge, even though you KNOW you should have lost a pound or two if not more over the course of the week? My scale wasn't moving, or, it would move one lousy pound, and then the next day it would move back up, and I played the up/down game for 2 weeks with an end result of ZERO weight loss. Man, that has all changed since adding in the Oil and Tea, I'm losing steady now which is all I want, not MASSIVE losses, but a STEADY loss....and 2 or 3# per week is just fine with me.

                        Here are a few recipes:

                        Chocolate Pecan Fudge:

                        4 T melted C Oil
3 squares of premium baking chocolate, melted
3 T of ground flax seeds
                        2 T of shredded coconut
                        Chopped pecans
                        Scoop of PP
                        2 packets splenda

line an 8x8 pan w/ foil, spread in pan and refrigerate, cut into 8 bars

654 cals , 65.4 gr fat, 11 gr carb, 5 gr fiber, 14 gr protein…net carbs 6 for total recipe.

                        Vanilla Walnut fudge

                        4 T melted c oil
3 T of ground flax seeds
                        2 T of shredded coconut
                        scoop of PP
                        1 tsp vanilla
                        2 packets splenda
1 T. Davinci french vanilla SF syrup
                        chopped walnuts

pour into an 8x8 pan like above

Other ideas: maple fudge, orange fudge, german chocolate frosting fudge, Mint fudge (post a recipe!), mocha fudge, the possibilities are endless.

p.s. I actually put a lot of unsweetened shredded coconut in my batches, probably 1/4 c, also, the vanilla fudge is wonderful!!!
                        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                        Mounds Bar

                        1 serving chocolate protein powder
2 T melted virgin coconut oil
a few drops of coconut extract
                        1-2 packets Splenda
warm water to reach desired conistency. A little will make it stiff and lumpy, more will make flat thin candy.

Mix. Plop between wax paper and smoosh. Let harden in refrigerator or freezer (if you're in a hurry )

                        Variations:

                        York Peppermint Patty

Add mint extract instead of coconut

                        Eggnog

Use vanilla protein powder, a few drops of rum extract and a couple shakes of nutmeg

                        Peanut Butter Lumps

Add a couple tablespoons of natual peanut butter to your chocolate protein powder mix

                        Lemon Drops

Vanilla protein powder with a few drops of lemon extract

Chocolate Banana, Banana Extract, be creative!

                        Chocolate Bark

                        4 T. (1/4 Cup) Virgin Coconut Oil
                        1-1.5 T. Cocoa Powder
                        2 oz. nuts (optional)
1/4 t. low-carb sweetener, such as stevia or xylitol

Melt the coconut oil to a liquid, add in cocoa powder and sweetener. Stir to combine and blend well.

Blend nuts into chocolate mixture. (optional)

Have chilled a metal bakeware lasagna or cake pan or pans in freezer for ten minutes or so. Remove from freezer and line with waxed paper. Then pour mixture into chilled pan and spread to desired thickness.

Pop it in refrigerator or freezer on level shelf and let it sit 10 minutes or so. It will harden quickly and breaks with a snap.

                        Coconut Oil Peanut Butter Delights

                        3 Tbs. melted coconut oil
                        1 Tbs. peanut butter
                        1 Tbs. cocoa
                        sweetener to taste
(I did add some flaxseed meal, too)

In a bowl, melt the coconut oil with the peanut butter in a microwave..Then
remove and add the cocoa, and sweetener (to taste). Throw in a Tbs. of
                        flaxseed meal if you want..

Then pour these into small mini-cupcake pans and freeze. I got 9 when I made
mine..so 3 per serving..I keep mine in a ziplock bag in the freezer..

Of course, you can add nuts, etc..whatever you want for crunch..

BTW, I've backed off of so much of the candy due to the fact that I can't exercise right now with a badly sprained ankle and a pulled hamstring....so instead, I'm slathering low-carb muffins with the coconut oil instead of butter, as well as baking the muffins with the coconut oil. I have two per day, one in the morning with my boiled egg, and one in the evening with my Tea.

I'm also using the oil for everything else, frying eggs, sauteeing veggies, you name it.

The brand that I have is Salada, and I have to drink decaf for medical reasons; my heart is as healthy as can be, but I have a reaction to caffeine in the form of palpitations.

Regular Green Tea is just fine, but both regular and Decaf have the same benefits and antioxidants.
